I bet the 3.5's would be perfect with 5.29's and 35's.

I think stock at redline in 6th they theoretically will do 250mph :rofl::rofl:

Yup, finally! Kinda late for me but my nitros have been fine. I've ran them for about 5k miles now and no issues. I broke them in as suggested. Attached are the gears but no details on rebuild kits.

4.30s are an option...though, probably not in OP's case.

After new gears, did you re-calibrate your Center cluster speedometer (if that is even possible)?

No, I just ran waze on my phone to figure out my speed. Now I know at 55 I'm actually going about 60 and at 80 I'm doing 89. Never bothered to even calibrate it.

How do you calibrate the center cluster speedo?
I ask because I'd be soon changing my tires to a different size, and might consider re-gear in the future. Knowing this will come handy.

You won’t be able to use it in California for smog certification, the company won’t ship it to us either.

What the hell, will it throw a code or be picked up at smog time? I thought it hid under the dash.

That would be a pain to have to undo it every other year.

I have broes in different area codes that can ship it to me.

It does hide behind the cluster. You’d have to know it was there.

I ordered mine off Amazon, not sure if they will ship it to CA or not. It shipped directly from their warehouse, not third party.

Except for tires. Tires are usually priced well with free shipping.

FYI - I live in NorCal, and just last week bought the Hypertech InLine Speedo Calibration direct from Hypertech website. I run a Mac, so need to find a Windows machine to download the app and plug in my 35" tires and - New 4.88 Rear Diff! Which brings me to my next question(s) about the ECGS Pre-Assembled Diff / 3rds.

To get re-geared from the stock 3.91 (3.5L V6 AT) to a 4.88, I can either wait for the backorder GB on the Nitro Gear kits, and then pay a local shop 12 hours of work. -OR- I can buy the ECGS Pre-Assembled units and have the shop only charge me 8 hours to put them in. Has anyone purchased and installed a 4.88 from ECGS?? How did it go, how many hours did the shop take, whats your overall experience, etc. Would love to learn from others experience to help gauge which direction to go.

I contacted ECGS directly when I was trying to go that route but the 3rd gen and 2nd gen pre-assembled clamshell is different. The 3rd gen has some type of sensor in the clamshell. They said they would need cores from totaled 3rd gens before they start doing preassembled units. Hope this clarifies what route you'll go

Out of curiosity, what kind of coin does it cost to re-gear a truck?
