So all laws should be enforced with the same level of force? That's what I'm getting from the quote and your response. Should we start pulling guns on people that don't wear seat belts now?

Anyway.... whether you agree with the motorcyclist or not you have to agree that that cop endangered his life and lives of others by pulling that gun out like that. Because what if he did that to the biker or someone driving a car that had a concealed weapons permit, then the driver/rider sees this guy cut him off and start to get out with his gun in hand, driver/rider pulls out his gun starts opening fire to defend himself and now you have gun fire going back and forth in the street. I've met a lot of conceal carry guys that wouldn't hesitate to blow away a guy that just leaped out of his car with his gun in hand at an intersection.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.

We had that happen here about 4 years ago. 1 bike doing 120mph + 1 mini van with 5 (IIRC) people = mass carnage and instant death - of all parties

And I've seen plenty of instances when moron cagers aren't paying attention and level a motorcyclist. Their excuse is always "I didn't see them" and it's like no harm no foul.

So, this debate isn't or shouldn't be about how careless the guy was riding, it's how the responding officer handles the situation, which was completely thugish and unprofessional.

md state troopers dont play...im not surprised he pulled a gun..i got pulled over on a back road to my house..the cop didnt even aproach my car just told me to get out with my hands up. i was goin 10 over the 35mph speed limit. he didnt keep the gun pointed at me very long but it was a little nerve racking. it was around 1am but i dont think that justified anything. i had another instance with a state trooper when he completly lied and made up a story in a court room and fucked me...but thats another topic...im not saying i hate cops but i dont trust 75% of them..especially big headed state troopers in md

    This whole situation was bad.

The biker was driving like an idiot. He defiantly needs a couple of tickets for stupid driving. Probably needs to lose the license and ride the bus.

The cop is lucky to be alive. YOU NEVER EXIT WITH A GUN WITHOUT IDENTIFING YOURSELF. He needs some desk duty and retraining before going back out.

Any LEO who thinks how the cop exited was ok needs to reread their sop on traffic stops.

    No lights. WRONG.
    No badge. WRONG.
    No verbal ID. WRONG.

This could have ended with a dead officer and a dead biker.
Both are wrong and need a reality check.

The only real stupid thing I see here is a moron posting crap on you-tube. If he hadn't done that, just paid his ticket and went on with his life, lesson learned, it would be over.

Both parties acted badly and with out being there IN the situation it is hard to say what was right and what was wrong.

For all of the finger pointing on who was the bigger douchebag in the video, sadly, a far more important point is being completely missed.

If a police department was to throw down charges on me for taping a public servant on a public roadway, I'd be busting their chops for violating my Constitutional rights under freedom of expression and freedom of speech. A videotape on such an encounter becomes evidence for your side of a story. Where is the outrage over the fact that the MD police department has the audacity to piss on our rights?

Dude, that was the whole point of the thread in the first place, hence the title, "charged for video taping". Did you even read any of the responses:confused:

Yes I did. The overwhelming majority of them were fingerpointing on which one of the two was the bigger idiot - which is why I made my finger pointing comment.

well i didn't see road rage and i didn't see a gun being waved around. in fact i saw a gun deployed initially and quickly re-holstered. i also saw the difference between a biker's view during lane changes and his view when he was clearly trying to understand what was going on behind him and then acting accordingly. however, the fact that a marked cruiser pulls up immediately says there is more to the story.
