I ran one 16 gauge wire with a 15 amp fuse attached in a weather safe fuse box. I ran this from the positive terminal on my battery and brought it to the wiring on my dome light. I didn't bother running the wire with loom yet. There are 4 wires that run into a clip, this came with my cap. The white clip with the 4 wires attaches to my tail lights on another clip. two of the 4 wires operate my upper cap light and the other two run to the dome light. I unclipped the these wires from the taillight connect. I located the two wires that run into my dome light. I ended up shaving the rubberized coating off of a small section on each wire. I then attached my single16 gauge wire to each of the two just to test if the light would operate. I got nothing.

By "test if the light would operate" do you mean that you put the wire you ran from the battery on the positive probe of the voltmeter and the negative end to the ground wire? If that didn't work make sure you actually have juice in the wire you ran then follow the ground and see what it goes to. It should be spliced into the ground for the tails or bolted into the frame.

    Drogers,

    Sounds like a ground issue.
