I've got a '13 that just rolled 100K and still going strong. I'm running with it till the wheels fall off.

In ohio the salt and liquid de-icer takes them out early. The drivetrain is always going strong, but the cancer just keeps eating away. I hope for 10 yrs 150-175k.

200,000 is my target before even considering a sale/trade/upgrade. Just over 70,000 now, so I have a ways to go.

My '15 isn't my DD, and I'm 59 years old. If I drive it till I'm 79, and put 3K a year on it, I only need to get 70K total. I'll sell it on this forum to pay for a stripper at my funeral. Bam.

I'm curious about the 2 votes for < 100k miles. Do they really think the truck won't last 100k? Or are they saying they don't plan to drive it past 100k? If so they misunderstood the question I think, or maybe not and took it literally word for word.

Going for over 300k. Has been perfect for the first 85k i have put on it, though that may change when the lift goes on this weekend. Hopefully I don't ruin my truck, but what's vehicle ownership without a few self caused catastrophic failures.

I'm 'guessing' I only have about 20 years of safe driving left. At 5k per year, +16k on it now, that's only 116k. No road issues here in terms of salt and that stuff, so 10 more oil changes, one set of brakes 2 sets of tires and I'm done.

My plans could be broken by many things, but 4 main ones come to mind..............

I die less than 20 years or become disabled.

Some tourist or texting knucklehead totals me. Or I run off a bridge into the bay.

We decide it's time to downsize to one vehicle, and the truck isn't it.

Grandson #2 is ready for a vehicle in 9 years or so. And he sweet talks me out of my 'old' truck. Because they still haven't squared up the 16's, and he thinks they are too big anyway.

Oh wait, a 5th. I find an awesome 1st gen in someones garage and buy it.

I've put 250K+ miles in the past on several cars, we have a volvo my wife bought new in 1987 that has over 400K on it (but is currently on our 'get rid of it' list, we're just too lazy to do anything about it as its not worth jack), but odds are this Tacoma will never seen high miles as I don't commute anymore, and if I did, it wouldn't be in the Tacoma. I'll likely keep it for many years to come as my utility vehicle (my daily driver is a Mercedes 1993 300CE cabriolet). The Taco will be used for camping trips, hauling my astronomy gear to star parties, and general utility use. I still have a 1965 F100 pickup for general dump run duty, but we might get rid of that as we're only using it a few times a year.

    current driveway collection:

1965 Ford F100 dump run special
1987 Volvo 240 sedan - old family car, both kids used in college, etc
    1990 Mercedes 300E2.6 sedan - spare car
1992 Volvo 740 Turbo wagon - my former daily driver, then utility car, soon to go to son's girlfriend.
1993 Mercedes 300CE Cabriolet - my regular car
    1994 Mercedes E320 wagon - wife's regular car
    2008 Tacoma - utility

plus, 2004 Toyota Camry that daughter has in college. We really really need to prune the fleet.

My goal is one million kilometers, so 621371.192 miles.

    I'm just under 200000km on a 2006, averaging 30-35000/year.

    I got time.

I picked up my '04 with 24,000 miles on the odometer, I plan on her lasting well into 300k miles and then some.

If something breaks next time I get in it, I'm blaming this thread.

Scooped up my '10 single cab October 2012 as a turned in lease. 6600 miles and no that's not a typo.

I do 15K a year so I'm hoping for 200K, but I live in MA. We got my wife's 96 to 170K before it was bought back April 2009.

I believe that the only way you make out buying new or almost new is keep it at least double the time your loan is.

My nephew is 13 and has claimed the truck but he'll be getting bad news, though at that time the wife's 2005 Rav4 will have 180K so perhaps he gets that.

I won't need a bigger vehicle as I don't have kids and will not be, so there's one big reason I may have to change vehicles off the table.

Tacos give us a luxury that I will say 90% of car owners never experience. The resale is so good that you can get out at any point without getting hurt on resale. They also are capable of "outrunning the payment book" for the next owner even if they buy at 150k. I always sell before the rust because it makes the sale quick and easy with top dollar. I wasn't ready for a new truck when I bought the '15, but I wasn't going to be the lab rat to try a '16

Great question. I traded in my '04 Prerunner with 280k miles to get my new 4x4. I'll just end up passing this one down to my kid in 7 years, and hope to get 400k out of it
