Do the lines in the backup camera come from the camera itself or the mirror/radio? I want to be sure I order the correct camera and if I need to change my tailgate harness.

    Thanks.

Looking in the navigation owners manual and repair manual, they are in the camera itself.

Like the parking alignment lines? When I switched to an aftermarket head unit and (finally) got my stock backup cam to work with it no lines appeared on the screen. And it doesn’t say “always look before backing” or whatever it used to say anymore. I don’t mind, just stoked that it works. And I can add/ customize lines on the new headunit anyway.

It comes from the headunit. You can turn it on or off. (Pioneer)

Some of the cameras I have looked at have a wire loop in their harness. If you cut it, it activates the lines.
