Tech found my rear differential 1/3 quart low during my last free Toyota Care 25K free oil change. No leaks.

Another factory low fluid level to be aware of.

there is a thread on this already. 0.33 out of 4qts isn't going to hurt a diff.

All stock... NAVI, bluetooth, Siruis, TRD wheels.
I've had my truck back to Fannin Toyota 3 times each time fluid levels low. So yesterday I took it upon myself to check my differential... It was 20 ounces low!!! The fluid was black. I'll add pics later today.

I changed the front diff tonight. Only 40oz. came out! 2.1qts or approximately 68oz to fill.

I think the actual level in relationship to the gears is as important as the volume of oil. Too low, it won't get picked up and distributed properly; to high, you can get frothing.

I'm sorry... Your truck shifts smoother because you replaced your diff oil?

I am getting like 19-20mpg on my drive to work daily now before I use to get around 17.5mpg to work and I didnt use anything special. just that Synthetic blend walmart brand the Supertech 75w90

explain HOW diff fluid would make the trans shift better. I can understand if you get better MPG but diff fluid isnt gonna make the trans act any better or worse

Don't forget to top up your gas tank after the pump shuts off and inflate your tires to a minimum 40psi otherwise your truck might not shift smoothly

Funny how people think whether the diff is properly lubricated would affect the shift points of the transmission smh

You will also gain about that much going from winter to summer and vice versa, so it would be hard to make the diff correlation unless you bought after March-ish.

That's not even low. A lot of oil doesn't drain out. There's some in the axle tubes. In the gears. Changing your diff fluid doesn't make your truck shift smoother
