The high pitch whine is either two things no gear oil or excessive backlash. The A/C blower noise is typical.

The vibration is probably the drive line out of phase.

Bummer... so far my 2010 is free of issues with over 6,000 miles on it now... with the only problem being the tranny drip when it was new and fixed after two visits to service dept.

Well, this issue is back from the dead folks!!
I have complained to the dealer about a whining sound since I got the new 3rd member. After trying to tell me it was my tires,(the only aftermarket part they could blame), they have ordered a new rear axle!
There is also the squeaky leaf springs, apparently the TSB parts would not fit my truck. Toyota is aware of the issue, and I'm one of many that are having this issue re-occur. They are working on a fix. (6th year in production, and this is an issue?).
Some good news? My first tank of fuel over 21 Imperial mpg average (17.5 us mpg). I have 38000kms, btw.

You kill me man. You have the most lemonfied Tacoma I've ever heard of. FWIW, no issues in my 2009 since the tranny reflash was done. Matter of fact, just went out yesterday on some forest service roads and exercised all the actuators. Everything's still working like it should.

Sucks that yours is basically falling apart. As for squeaky leaf springs, you greased em up?

You missed that one in your list of excuses. Man that looks like you where driving on a muddy road. I've seen worse road construction sites. I came upon a road construction once like 3am in the morning. They had removed the road not expecting anyone to be there. I ended up getting towed threw it with a D9. Not his truck though. Welcome to Canada. Nothing wrong with that.( Your Pictures ) Truck was not even sinking in. Remember in the future wash your truck off first. Screw up the mud detectives.

Oh name and shame so we can pass on the info of what stealership to avoid. Sounds like you had a problem before you even got stuck. Sounds like that problem cause the goof up.

On a lighter note. Make you feel better. In the Yukon I drove down to a pump house to do some work. It was spring and there was a little mud hole on the way there covering the road. Drove threw it no problem. Did my work about 6 hours worth. On the way back that little mud hole was like freaking huge. Put it in 4 low drove threw it. Woops. It was like a bottom less pit. The bumper hit the other side of the hole the still frozen part. The truck became a front end loader with the hood as it's bucket. I must of moved several yards of mud with the hood. I basically broke that truck in half. I gave it the center lift, bent the frame both sides at the firewall. A Chevy. Company truck, Brand new. Woops, a Canadian road hazard. Didn't get stuck but the truck did not survive. Had to get a front end loader down there and he put 8 buckets into the hole. That was a road in the morning.

Man, I am so sorry you are having all the problems. It seems like you are having ALL of the tacoma problems instead of jsut the occasional one like most.
I have accepted the fact that I will blow through at least 1 rear dif, if not a couple clutches and possible a tranny/transfer case. But then again I have the TRD supercharger, TRD CAI, TRD Cat back exhaust, and 2.85" pulley and I like I drive/ride my cars/bikes like they were stolen. Thats why I actually spend money on the extended warrenties because I fully expect to use them. LoL

Good luck with all your troubles man. I hope whatever car/truck you decide to go to works out better for you.

When Manny went to the dealer (or when he negotiated with his beautiful wife) he got the add-a-vagina mod.

He was one of the best guys to wheel with; good sense of humor, had (emphasis on had) balls, and like new challenges - the kind of guy people like to help!

He even had a great looking gal with a great sense of humor, give him a rim job at a local mod day!

One of the top 4 best investments you can make is to call Chase at East Coast Gear for a 5 year warranty 4.56 or 4.88 third(s).

I miss Manny. The last I heard he said he would let someone see his new vag if he could drive with someone on a hard off road trail.

Now he's got a marginal road vehicle that was intended to be wheeled.

    :)

Let's raise some money to get that vag removed!

    :)

    Howdy Alex!

It was about 100 feet from there, crossing back under the power lines. Seemed like a fluke at the time. I think the axle was screwed, and they replaced only the third member......

Mr. Tard to you, but yes. Either that or use it to move lawnmowers, cases of beanie babies, or your show dog to the shows. Otherwise if you are going to do more than ranch roads or local malls then change the set up for $600 or so dollars and have a 5 year warranty where they don't give you crap for changing a headlight or two.

ehh you dont need $600 setup, all you need is some Knowledge. Had seen people snapping their third and that was always to the tune of engine revving up. :D
Especially on spring rear, Somehow people can't feel when axle warp happens and they keep spinning wheel until .........SNAP... ;) Its like driver is glued to gas pedal and in his mind somebody screams MORE POWER, MORE POWER Johnny.
I love seeing look on the throttle junkie, faces when you just idle through the same spot :smack::D

Very good point! - learn how to power brake to load up tconverter too - The other issues are how much weight do you have/added in the truck, what size tires are you running, what type of tread, how steep is the climb and how many tires are touching the road!

Agree it takes a lot of factors to make sound decision, that's why its up to the older crowd on the run to keep people from acting stupid. Its a well known fact that new guy is gonna try to hammer his way through on every obstacle because he does not know better, and he is afraid to get stuck - left behind. That plus man's Macho  ("I can't be stuck, I just saw dual locked buggy on 40" go through I can make it on my 30" with open/open and no skid plate, all I need is MORE POWER")

Although, some people think just because they bought 30K truck with TRD Offroad sticker on it they are pro's already and no need for lessons. Tow truck ride usually gets them back into reality very quickly ;)

Well, I don't know if it's an old guy/young guy thing - we know an 80 year-old wheeler busting a rear, I think was due to a combination of overload of the truck, size of tire and gear ratio combined with some fresh Mexican air; it was a first gen std trans with stock gears and I believe if he had gears he would have been fine.

The only part of the young thing is experience and ability to learn from those that may have some experience breaking things!!!! ;)

No truck or $x$ is unbreakable. Talk to a Jeep guy! :)

And yes, if you are going to take any truck off road, on anything more than a ranch road, the price of the truck is the 'entry fee.' And yes, just like Disneyland, the cold drinks really do cost $7 to $20!
