What i do is... I drive in a straight line but move the steering wheel left to right just enough to make the truck rock side to side, that typically works for me.

Just picked up an 02 yesterday and it sticks as well. Fiddling for a while will eventually disengage it. I'll try the left and right trick see if that fixes it, if not I might have to look for a new motor as well? Any suggestions?

    Actuator rebuild thread here.

Mine wasn't going on so I rebuilt the actuator and it works great now.

Engage Offroad long travel front and rear with some fat tires.
I also just do a sweeping left or right turn and that works for me. So long as both wheels are turning at different ratios the diff locks and unlocks easily

Bump this because my rear diff lock won't unengage. I've done the whole figure 8 thing and it still stays locked.

Seems like its common enough that you could try replacing it. Or at least making sure it works! :)

Nice to see that I don't appear to be in as bad shape as I thought I was. Externally, anyway. Just have to pull mine open and figure out why my limit switch readings are wonky, and also replace those two cover bolts as he had to do.
