Brilliant solution! I struggled to get the union into the stupid hose for about 30 minutes. I'm going to install the entire thing tonight.

Question: Are there lots of fumes from this? I see people mentioning a differential smell. I've got a softtopper and I'd like to avoid killing anyone accidentally.

I appreciate the OP, and all those that contributed to this thread. As I was buying more gloves at Advanced Auto today I remembered that I had the two Toyota part numbers sitting at home but keep forgetting to get around to getting the fuel line and the clamps and what not, I went ahead and got what I needed and did the breather mod and it is now up behind the driver side tail light.

    Thanks TW...

I did this mod awhile back. I added a few droppersfull of lube to the fuel line I used for the breather. I figure it will catch and dust that might get in there since it is now a two way vent. Probably overkill...

My rear breather. Added a little pad behind the breather so it would not rattle.

Thanks to the OP and David K for posting this mod. I installed mine behind the tailight today with no problems. I added heat shrink tubing to some of the fuel line before tie wrapping those locations. It probably was not necessary but it provides a bit extra abrasion protection to the hose.

The part numbers for breather and union in the OP on this thread are good Toyota part #s, ordered em from the dealer Tuesday and they arrived Wednesday morning since they weren't currently in stock.

Got a recall on my 06 tacoma. Drove 170 miles. Got a hotel room for the night and they got the wrong leaf springs. Also they did what they called a bumper to bumper check on my truck and tried to sell me new brakes on top of my already new brakes. Jfc. Dealerships. But I did find out my RR seal was leaking after I just had it fixed. Cuz the vent was clogged and my mech forgot to check it. But he fixed that free of charge and made it all better. But I am still going to put that after market vent on mine asap. Thanks for the heads up.
