    Hello all,

So i am at a complete loss now. I have a clunk when i go over bumps, potholes, speed humps and so on coming from the rear end. Put it up on a rack pounded and shook all sorts of things. Replaced Center support bearing, had my U-joints removed cleaned and repacked. I have crawled under and torqued every bolt i can get on to. Added rubber insulation tape to noisy areas on my fenders and so on. I still have this clunk that is continually getting worse. I have newer procomp shocks on there and have pushed and pulled on them and found no problems. I am thinking of just biting the bullet and replacing those also to see if it is them. Looking for other ideas that i can look at. Any help out there?

Check your spare tire. It's good to drop it and lube the cable and winch once in a while anyway.

Seriously, ya got a drawbar in your hitch? Mine makes all sorts of noises unless I wrap it with duct tape every now and then.

@ toy4me alre4ady tried that. Pulled the spare, ran a few days with the cable pulled up without it.
@ jeffch looked at both, they are good
@08TacoTrD Pulled my hitch and it was still there also

Ok. I was going to suggest leaf spring bushings, but if you're on stock leaf springs then that shouldn't be a problem. Wouldn't hurt to check side-to-side play where the leaf springs mount anyway...if you can't track down the noise.

Spare tire has also gotten me with a mysterious clunk. Lower it and raise it back up tight just to be sure.

so, i replaced the procomos with bilstein 5100s and the sound is gone. no clear sign of it being blown, but when i tap it on the ground i can hear something loose inside.

Had a clunking sound in the rear going over bumps on my 2021 TRD Off Road. I thought it was the spare tire chain. I secured the chain and still had the noise. Found it today after more than a year . I had my wife bounce up and down on the rear bumper. I found that the noise was coming from the driver side rear leaf spring. I jacked up the rear end by putting a floor jack under the hitch and lifted it by about 3". That opened the bottom leaf spring a bit. I then cut a piece of 1 1/4" by 2 1/4" of "3/8" hard black rubber and inserted into the lower leaf opening. I let the jack down. No more noise. Hope this helps.

I just had my rear right shock replaced under warranty when I heard the same knocking noise, two weeks after the fix the noise has started to come back. I have not checked the spare tire, bed bolt, or leaf springs but that will be my next mission. Once I look it over I will repost.
