So after almost a month of having the rear end of my truck have a mysterious rattle i have finally found the source. I have done a lot of research online looking for a solution and all things pointed to the wheel well liners, mine was not the case. The heat shields have actually corroded around the nuts holding them on and started to fall down. Then every time I hit a bump they would rattle against the body of my truck. figured id make a thread about this in case someone else was having the same problem.
P.S. this is my first thread and real excited to finally join this community!

I just got my '06 back from the dealer after the frame and rear springs were replaced under the rust recalls. I have a rattle I thought might have been coming from the rear seat pocket holding the jack but all there was secure. I came to find that both the rear wheel well liners are rattling against the frame and the fenders, both sides. Tapping the liners produces the noise as well as hitting on the outside of the rear fenders. A bumpy road brings it out.

I'll be going to the dealer monday morning to have them look at it and hopefully fix it under their frame warranty as the noise wasn't there before the frame replacement. Little crap is so annoying!

    Tom.

I hear ya. Took me a while to figure out it was my heat shields rattling. Now I have a chirp in my front drivers side somewhere. I think it’s interior but hard to pin point while driving

I've had this issue going on for a while..read all the threads...checked bolts and bushing. Still nothing...just found the problem today..the OME shock adapter to the 2nd gen has a spacer bolt just behind the lower shock mount..mine loosened and the sleeve was rattling on the bolt..backed it up..lock tight..no rattle!!

1CD539F7-0AAA-42FF-8A18-0DE1F5EF07D4.jpg I know everybody’s got a different rattle on their vehicle mine happened to be the driver side front leafspring I was beating around there with the hammer and heard the noise I hear while driving put a zip tie between the two leaf springs my problem is solved for now
Had the truck about two months now and noticed I did not have the noise when I was loaded with firewood or a small trailer but when I was empty I had this weird rattle going over bumps

Rattles can be a bugger to hunt.

My truck had several. 2 loose heat shields and the radiator mounts were missing the bolts. Took quite a while to hunt then isolate.

    Solutions were simple.

Now, just a soft tick from the A/C fan motor. I suspect the bearing needs a bit of slickum. A task for the future.
