What ended up happening to your truck? Since you mentioned that the frame was damaged, did they fix it or put a new frame on your truck? I was just rear ended at around 35 mph on my 2nd gen tacoma while stopped for pedestrians. The ball on the tow hitch took the entire impact and the whole bumper is bent down. I went under the truck and it seems as if the frame is bent.

I had the exact same thing happen. Bent frame and they put it on a rack and bent it back. After reading this thread, I wish I'd gone after diminished value through insurance.

When your truck gets hit and has damage, it's now worth less than it was. The insurance of the person who hit you will cut you a check for the loss in value, but they won't volunteer it.

Just got mine back from a month in the shop and $1800 in repairs for the same low speed impact.

Mine had a bit of frame damage and they fixed it and got a new trailer hitch and bumper. Total was about $4,000. Insurance doesn’t want to pay diminished value as they said car was “restored to pre-accident condition.” Nonsense, it’s stressful to fight them. I also called my insurance and they said they almost never do diminished value unless you sell the car like and prove the loss. Anyways, I think the best thing to do is get an attorney to fight for a diminished value. I read a long article that insurances rarely ever Pay DV because it’s hard to prove the actual loss. Did you get anything for diminished value?

You're wasting your time and $ on an attorney as you will not win. Insurance companies will only very rarely pay DV on even expensive collector/investor grade sportscars which resale values are VERY sensitive to accident repair, however they will not pay DV on a truck that your can't prove.

I figured, I’ve done my research and like u said, insurances don’t pay DV. So many cases taken to court and they still don’t win. Thanks for your reply.
