Hi guys, someone ran into me going about 15mph and hit my hitch, bending down the ball mount slightly. I am going to have my frame checked, but I am also going to demand that my hitch be replaced, as I no longer trust the structural integrity of it. I have an '06 with the factory towing package. Can anyone tell me if the correct part number is PT791-04050? I would greatly appreciate it! I was unsure if the factory towing package came with something different.

The shop that does the repair will know.

Or are you going to take the cash and DIY repairs? It should be the same hitch from '05-'15

I seem to find 51908-04010. Same number for 4cyl 2wd and 6cy 4wd. Not sure what you have, I must have missed the part where you said.

Check out http://parts.olathetoyota.com/ and it will get you close. Before ordering confirm with your local dealer. Good luck!

Thanks guys. I plan to take the cash and swap it out myself. It's time to get rid of my factory bumper. Extra funds will go there. I just didn't want to get less money for something cheaper if the tow package hitch was beefier.

If you are going with an aftermarket rear bumper explorer hitch ideas to have a streamlined look and functionality. Besides, hitches can be had used for 50 bucks on craigslist.

Well what I heard was correct, Progressive never wants to pay. They told me they don't see any visible damage and suggested I take the truck to a Toyota dealership for a closer inspection. I don't know if it would be easily visible if the structural integrity of the hitch was compromised. The Progressive adjuster said the ball mount is designed to move around in the receiver. I know it was tight before, I can't imagine that you should be able to physically move the entire ball mount up and down by hand, it's that loose.

if you lived anywhere close I would give you my OEM hitch, I upgraded to a steel bumper and the OEM hitch dont work with it so its up for grabs.

I recently had mine replaced for the same reason. Only visible damage was a bent/bulged safety chain attachment point on passenger side. The factory hitch is around $1200. For the rear bumper cover, hitch, trailer plug, and six hrs on the frame rack (impact drug the passenger side frame rail down more than and inch and the drivers side a quarater inch) total claim was almost $3,500. FYI -Liberty Mutual didn't want to pay up either, but persistence pays off.

I will see if I can dig up the part number.

Edit: Found it, others were correct. P/N 51908-04010

There will *DEFINITELY* be some looseness between the ball mount and the receiver.

But it is unlikely to bend.
In fact, if it did bend down AT ALL, the place to look, is the truck's frame, in the section between the rear spring mount and the hitch.

Thanks so much for your responses guys. I really appreciate the offers. This has been pretty frustrating, even though I did what the Progressive adjuster asked me to, someone else was at the counter when I went back with my estimate and she refused to cover it. She told me that my hitch is supposed to be loose! I went through my insurance company now, waiting to hear back from them.
