Happy to help. I believe that the locknuts are part of a frame welded bracket and the screws with washers are supposed to screw into those permanently mounted nuts. The nuts on mine were completely done and they were held in by what seemed to be a one piece washer on the other side of the frame bracket. I had to grind that washer off on the opposite side of the bracket just to free the nuts. I used stainless nuts, washers, lockwashers from Home Depot after painting the frame mount with Rustoleum. Good to go.

You as so very right about the rust. You would think that Toyota made Tacomas for use only in arid climes! I'd trade dust for rust anyday living here in upstate Central New York - salt brine on the highways virtually 4-6 months out of the year and 15F doesn't bode well for a regular undercarriage pressure wash!

I've been doing research - The part numbers for the two braces are the same for my truck on all the web sites the BOLT, W/WASHER part number come up "This part does not fit your 2008 Toyota Tacoma" - the best price looks like https://www.oemgenuineparts.com/cart - McGeorge is recommended on TW but there web site says they don't have one of the brackets -Where did you get yours ? Thanks for all you help.

https://autoparts.hendricktoyotaapex.com/ Matt Hales helped me out on several on-line orders. Great markdowns and free shipping over $75. You call and they answer the phone. Excellent operation. I found the discontinued OEM stainless exhaust tip for my rig, as well as the OEM grey TRD ball shifter knob, hard to find anywhere else. BTW, the screws are correct.
