I did not have a letter as I only purchased the truck in November. I just went in asking about the recall and they explained the inspection process and did it on the spot. The info is in Toyota system by Vin number anyway.

I got this recall notice today and called my local dealer. I have an appointment so that they can inspect the springs and then order the replacement leaf springs. The girl said it "may take awhile before the replacement springs come in". I don't have an issue with mine, no sagging or cracks etc, so I'm guessing they'll drag their feet fixing mine and focus on the trucks that have bad least.

My springs were in great shape. No sagging or cracks. They ordered and came in about a week later. I'm sure it has a little to do with how on top of things a dealer is.

I'm glad you were not hurt and that no one happen to throw a discarded cigarette butt , while you were at a stop light. I would notify Toyota right away, so hopefully they will replace them sooner rather than after what has happened to you.

My 2008 Taco is covered in the recall but it has been over a year since I received a notice from Toyota confirming it. My springs are now so weak that it bottoms our uncomfortably over minor bumps or driveway approaches.
I called the Customer Service Center in Los Angeles and was told to take it into the dealer and if they agree the springs will be replaced gratis. I winder what they will "inspect" for ?
    Any clues?

    Thanks bob

What number do I call to ask about getting reimbursed for aftermarket springs?

Called the guys in parts at my local Toyota dealership the other day. I work across town at the GM dealer and do a lot of business with them. They said they would have new springs coming in late this week. Not sure what they inspect for, but hope I get some new ones.

I just checked my vin, 2009 and it's on the recall. I am going in on Monday to grab a set of spark plugs.. I will see what they say.. I am Vancouver Washington..

Come on new springs.. My rear bottoms out over small bumps and it sucks! I hope that they will help out with that issue..

For those with the new O.E. Springs... How is the ride?

Part number 04005-34404, from the above pic. I haven't kept up with the topic and all the threads, so I may have missed it... but that's the first time I've seen a part number for the replacement springs.

Dropped mine off for the "inspection" at my local dealership. I have the 3 clips on my leaf packs so I should be getting a replacement pair. Ill find out tomorrow, crossing my fingers.

Well I'm getting new leaf packs, should be at the dealership in about a week or two. I think the dealership is doing good by this recall.
BTW the parking lot next to the service area looked like a used Tacoma parking lot, I counted 6 other Tacos there, most for the recall I'm sure.

I have the 4 leaf pack with with 3 clips. However I had to cut one of the clips to install an AAL. I plan on removing the AAL to get the recall done. I wonder if they will deny me due to that.
