    GKN claims it can lock with up to a 200 rpm difference between wheels...

    I'm skeptical AutoLSD (or a rear locker) would ever do anything on wet pavement. It's only useful when one tire is spinning due to loss of traction. I would need to really launch it to spin a tire on wet pavement. I use AutoLSD in snow/ice conditions when I'm stuck and engaging 4wd is not convenient.

    Can you be more specific about what you don't understand?

    AutoLSD attempts to limit uneven wheel slip. Uneven wheel slip happens when one wheel has less traction than the other and starts to slip/spin instead of roll. With an open diff like our trucks have, this can cause you to get stuck because most or all the torque goes to the wheel that is spinning. AutoLSD uses the ABS brake system to limit the amount the spinning wheel can spin and thus divert torque to the wheel with more traction. If there is no uneven wheel slip AutoLSD does nothing. Does that help?

    I’m sure that’s right, but I’m still lost. I just know I’m glad I have it, and it’s saved me a few times. I will say this though, $300 maxtrax have saved my ass twice as many times.

    I’m confused. Is wet pavement different where you live? Where I live it’s quite hard to get stuck on wet pavement.

    Also I believe AutoLSD disables itself > 3mph is it’s not very useful for drag racing.

    Today I tried going up a fairly steep unplowed snow hill and in 4Hi I was spinning and sliding sideways. The snow was very wet. Put her in 4Lo with the lockers and she just motored right up the hill, albeit slowly. A rear locked diff comes in very handy.

    This is from page 252 of the manual. It doesn't indicate a speed but it does say that AutoLSD does turn off and VSC and TRAC turns on based on speed.

    So, from what I've seen, the VSC and TRAC reenable, but Auto LSD stays enabled. I always use Auto LSD when I'm working in the fields, helps out a little when I don't wanna be in 4x4.

    In any case, I’ve never noticed AutoLSD doing anything after I get moving, but I’m out of the parking spot or intersection and on dry pavement at that point.

    Thanks! I was originally thinking it was doing something mechanically. This makes way more sense.

    Edit: Also, the maintenance doesn't require LSD additive. So I should have known... I'm dumb
