When I did a quick google search I was assuming the axle was staying on the same side of the leaf springs.. I didn't look close enough obviously thanks for the correction.. I'm curious if you could remove the lower leaf from the stock leaf pack, and weather that would drop the rear enough without being to soft of a ride

All good brother. Ya, I figure that bottom spring is only there as an overload spring and doesnt do anything during normal unloaded driving. taking it out will lower the truck by it's thickness which should be about 1/2 inch or 5/8ths I'm guessing. I wouldn't tow or load up any heavy loads in the bed though. Honestly the best and probably cheapest solution is to find a set of used sagged springs from a 2nd gen from CL or a pick-a-part place. Shouldn't be very hard to find a set for dirt cheap but I suppose that'd be location dependent. Tacoma is the most bought vehicle in Hawaii so we can find that kinda stuff for free if you look in the right spot but his area is certainly different.

It would be nice to find a rear drop to level with the front . Surprised no one makes such a kit yet ...

I like the used spring idea, cheap and straight forward. Then I can always throw the stockers back on if I ever use my truck for real truck stuff. I will have to put it on the list of things to keep an eye out for when searching for parts.

I replaced my front ones with shorter poly ones. Ride quality is similar to stock. Maybe a little bit firmer

The rears get replaced with the sos kit. Fronts are optional for 2nd gens

Don't know how I missed this; thanks!

Aerodynamics mostly. Lowering the rear should give less wind drag. While I already have a bed cover for my long wheel base crew cab 6' bed, and Toyota has the larger front air dam on the Sport along with other minor touches; I am hoping to squeeze out even more.

I am currently averaging 22.9 mpg lifetime on my truck. On my 54 mile round trip commute, I normally get 22-23 in the morning due to the cold and 24-27 going home (traffic dependent). Yes, I am driving a "mid sized" pickup truck and trying to squeeze gas mileage out of it; but it's always funny to me how my Tacoma gets better gas mileage than my hatchback Golf R...... But my Golf R gives SMILES per gallon!

I've been eyeing SOS since my 09 prerunner. I always wanted to build a Doublecab X-Runner.
