    Hi there!

    So here's my problem:

I have a 2003 Tacoma Pre Runner Double Cab 2WD. I bought it back in September knowing that the rear passenger door didn't open. Well to my surprise, the first time I tried to open the door, it opened! That only lasted for about a week. Since then, it will not unlock. I can't even manually pull the lock. Definitely feels like something is stuck, or even gummed up. When I try to unlock it with my FOB, you can see the lock trying to unlock, but it never goes up all the way.

How can I fix this? Typically I would take the panel off, but how can I take the panel off if I can't open the door? I'm stumped.

    Thanks!

You might need a new door lock actuator. There's a way to test if it's working correctly by applying 12v to a certain set of pins on the harness. Not sure how you can get the door open though.

Yup, the door lock actuator is failing. I'm not sure about the 1st gens, but the 2nd gens are costly. I ended up replacing all of my motors instead for $20. Beats paying $200 for each door assembly.

Try pressing the unlock and pull at the same time? Just need to get it open once.:D
