I have a 2021 Tacoma. Previously I had a 2002 with no backseats. So now having backseats is a pretty awesome upgrade. Even better, they fold down with the hard backing so you can put stuff back there without damaging the actual seat. I thought this would be great to put my dog back there so he doesn’t ruin the leather. However, the plastic is very slick and any time I brake or turn he slides all over the place. I know there’s seat covers you can get, but do they make like a rubber traction mat or something you can put down for your dog when the seats are folded down?

If you could find one of those bed mats that go in the back of the pickup bed place it on your back seat go underneath with a magic marker or a sharpie and Trace the shape of the seats and then cut the same that should work

You can try a bathroom rug mat. I bought 2 as they are 24 x 40 inches. The rubber backing stops them from sliding on the leather. They are wash and wear and come in different colors. I bought black.

No need to lay the back seats down.

I left the seat back in place so the dog had something to lean on. The base is a leftover jeep cargo tray, yoga mat, dog seatbelt and a tonneau cover that i put grommets in that attatch to the headrests with little carabiners. I only did the passenger side as eventually there may be a midget on the driver's side. Luna destroyed those cheap pet hammocks with her weight/nails and was a nervous passenger so the tonneau was easy to clean and was puncture proof

I sewed up a seat cover that works with the pup and kiddo. Most of the burrito style covers are the full width, so humans can’t sit back there. I used heavy duty cordura and PVC-coated polyester to make sure it’s strong and water proof

Thank you everyone for the ideas! I’ll definitely use this and see what I can come up with

I got one of those seat cover/pet hammock things off Amazon, similar to what yota posted. Works great, and seems it would protect dog from flying forward between seats in event of sudden stop/crash. It's pretty heavy duty and I leave it in all the time so i can set my cooler and work stuff back there without worry.
