The "did not inspect the frame" is a wrongdoing from that dealer, not corporate. That service at Jim Coleman Toyota should be reported to corporate for not doing the business right.

Why don't you take pictures yourself - it's a truck, most of that is visible without putting it on a lift.

@RysiuM I will be taking my own pics to post here as soon as I get the chance. It snowed and sleeted a bunch here yesterday and I was too wimpy to crawl underneath the truck in all that last night haha.

It sounds like the dealer has no clue.I would call corporate and find another dealer. In the mean time get a pick hammer, and and hit the frame in rusted areas and see if you fine any holes thats what i did and i found two holes as you can see in the picture. The hole on the right in the pics is just below the shock mount (same as yours) .

That's why I said "if you get any push back from corporate." Why do people feel the need to "correct" everything...even if there is no correction needed FFS. IF corporate pushes back, he mention's a possible lawsuit against Jim Coleman AND Toyota Corporate since JC is also representing them.

For obvious reason's it's good for him to have the pics that JC claims to have sent Toyota Corporate if he has to escalate to Toyota corporate himself.

That mount looks pretty bad, mine broke on my drivers side in Ca on a rust free truck it had my king shock dragging for a sec in a parking lot when it gave. SMH I was able to reweld because of being rust free but added a gusset. After seeing this Im remounting my rears completely, I can’t stand the design the way they mount anyway, good luck with the cancer on your truck!

Ok without further ado, here are pics I took this morning. I apologize ahead of time, they are pretty terrible... I couldn’t find any areas where the frame was brittle enough to poke a hole through with a hammer so maybe it’s better than I think? First up, this is where the shock mount broke free after I brushed out all the big rust chunks:

The rest of the frame honestly doesn’t seem bad. The shiny-ness is because I just fluid filmed it a few weeks ago. Here are some random pics of other areas in no particular order, let me know your thoughts. Thanks for all of your input!

I’ve been googling furiously trying to find a picture of what it should look like but I’m just finding pics of rusty broken ones. I think that section of frame is C channel not fully boxed so I’m not sure if it’s a hole or not

Yeah I'm having a hard time visualizing that part of frame. I'm being lazy because I could go outside and look lol

You see, the thing with boxed frames is that they rust and rot from the inside out... so what you CAN'T see is usually worst than what you can see. So if your shock mount broke off due to rust, well I'm pretty sure the rest is just waiting to rust through... The only thing you can do is bang your frame thoroughly with a hammer and see if it will punch a hole through it.. This will allow you to see to what extent it is rusted and what areas needs repairs

The worst area is where the leaf springs attach to the frame, right behind the cab (already looks like it's about to rust through in the picture... I even spy a rust crack at the left of it).
Then another commonly rusted through area is along the inner frame rails, by the gas tank and the catalytic converter

Then if you want to repair it, this company makes repair patches for rusted out frames
    https://www.autorust.com/product-category/toyota/
but if you or a friend knows how to weld, it is going to be much less expensive than having a shop fix your frame

^^ This. First I would bang with a hammer areas circled below, and of you have ability to endoscope the inside of the frame there.

Looks like the truck have taken some rust already, the question is how much.

I'm scared to look deeper into mine after looking at threads like these... and mine's a 2002 so its right out of any ability to have a dealership warranty anything.

Quick update, I took it this morning to a different dealership (Fitzgerald Toyota in Gaithersburg, MD). On the surface at least, they seem more competent than the previous dealership and they also gave me a sweeeeet complimentary Nissan Sentra loaner car :anonymous:

Thank you all for your input, I really appreciate it. It somehow helps knowing that I’m not the only one who’s gone through this haha. Will post an update when I hear back from the dealer

Just got off the phone with the second dealership... Basically they are saying that although it is pretty rusty under there, it's ancillary parts like the shock mount that are rusting and that the frame rails themselves are not perforated... therefore I'm not eligible for a replacement frame.

What are you alls thoughts? I'm starting to think maybe a new frame isn't in the cards and I should start looking for a shop to weld in a new frame section/shock mount.

you had to have the truck undercoated with their corrosion resistant compound(CRC) before the 2010 deadline. Then, if 10mm or more holes are found on the frame rails afterwards, you were eligible to get the frame replaced...

Maybe bang it good with hammer, hoping it will punch a hole through it, and go back?

Just for shits and giggles check these spots (hammer) I have circled. If the rust if flaking outside maybe it is all rusted inside too. You will feel it right away. If it is soft, ten you have your perforation needed for a new frame.

Use the claw end of a hammer or better a pick hammer, and hit the highlighted area in the pic don't be afraid to give it a few good hits.If you gonna find a hole that's were it will be .My frame looked just like yours, and that's were the one hole was. That area is a design flaw water gets in behind the shock mount and has no way to drain.
