so you write "tacos RULZ" on a piece of paper, place it in front of your camera, and it will read "ZLUR socat" in the backup camera?

once again since you seemed to have missed it.. the kenwood HU's have the option to reverse the image on the screen... so just go change it and then it will look how you want it to.

The monitor is designed to show an image like you were looking in a mirror.

When you turn around and look at your bed, you see the shovel on the left--on the passenger side of the vehicle.

When you look in the rear view mirror, you see the shovel on the right--which is the passenger side of the vehicle.

When you look in the camera, it shows you the same thing the mirror shows you. The shovel is on the right--on the passenger side of the vehicle.

I just checked my owners manual, and I couldn't see where it mentioned anything about the orientation of the image.

If I understand what RDAY is saying, let's say he is backing up and there is a tree coming up on his driver's side rear (left side). When he looks at the image displayed by the camera, the tree is on the right side of the screen. He would therefore turn the steering wheel to the left to avoid the tree, only to run right into it. If that's correct, then I think that's messed up. I just placed a broom on the driver's side rear (left side) of my truck. When I looked at the camera image, it was correctly depicted on the left side of the image.

I don't know, I guess try what Fire931 suggested? :notsure:

Rear view camera backwards??? Wouldn't really be a rear view camera if it was forwards.

well i was suggesting changing it in the HU because if i read right he said it was hooked to a kenwood unit so i would only assume its not the factory camera. i know on my kenwood i can make the image either correct or reversed.....

I think it depends on the camera you get whether or not it reverses it...My Pioneer doesn't have the ability to flip images, but the camera I got automatically flips it.

My pionner HU reads "image may appear reversed" even though it is not

Whatever side your camera says the shovel, or dog, or grandma is on, figure out which way turning your truck will go the other way, and do that.

if you go into the setup there is a option in there for the camera to show it mirror or normal

i believe that the camera defaults to mirror mode when its first hooked up.
