Any opinions regarding the Toyota recall and future impact on resale values?

IMO, The fact that the Transportation Secretary basically told everyone to park their cars (and later back-peddled) will not help matters at all!

Typical Obama administation lackey; head up his ass. Hidden agenda? Unions support Obama without fail...

I don't remember anyone telling Ford Explorer owners to park their vehicles (I sure didn't) or at any other time when thousands of other recalls were issued for domestics.

And no, I don't want to turn this into another "unions suck" debate. All I'm saying is, look at Obama's (short) history and his close ties to unions (UAW in particular. Follow the money.

I was at the dealership an hour ago for an oil change and while i was waiting got my services to get done i over heard about 6 people talking to the General Manager of the dealership to buy back their cars immediately and that they will never buy another Toyota ever again... the interesting part was that the GM was actually telling the customers that he will try to make it happen for them....

is it really that serious??? btw the Service director told me that the recall is for ALL Toyota's except for the ones that were made in Japan. He said that you can easily tell since the ones built in Japan has the VIN that starts with a "J" - So he told me that he will get schedule my Tacoma for the recall fix since i fell into the recall whether the media reported or not.

That makes sense: "Buy it back or I'm never buying another Toyota again!". If they buy it back, it's not like the fool will actually buy another anyway.

If I were the GM I'd tell them we'll gladly fix their vehicle as stated or they're welcome to trade it in for something else on the lot. Otherwise, go suck an egg.

That's just the clueless buying into media scare tactics. They have no problem driving their vehicle any other time when statistics show they're more likely to be in a driver caused accident but they bitch up a storm about one (possibly) faulty part.

The older I get, the more I realize that most humans are turning into sheep.
Once the media moves onto the next flavor of the week, Toyota will bounce back fine just like Ford, Tylenol, and every other company that has had a major safety recall. Time will heal these wounds and Toyota will be a better company in the long run. JMO.

Let the sheeple sell them or trade them in for a Gov't Motors piece of junk while in a state of panic. Eventually we might have a chance to get a great vehicle cheap.
I'd rather have a Toyota with a stupid recall for a sticky pedal (easy ways to fix) than a GM car.
MY dad has a Cadillac DTS as a company car. Nice car but he is always having stupid issues with it. Window regulators fail repeatedly, He's had random computer issues where interior shyt just fails, no radio, no a/c or heat, and the windows wont open. Stop and have lunch and presto it works again. Only to do what it wants 30 minutes later.
Now my cheap a$$ pick up truck, that I've had longer than Dads co carm cost less than half of the caddy. I've had two issues. Within the first month or so after purchase, the power steering tank failed and it blew fluid all over under the hood, and about a year later the trailer wiring adapter went out. That's all my issues, not counting the typical junk, the odd light bulb, and typical wear items. I have an early 2003 DCab prerunner with 105,000 miles.

Exactly, once the next senator gets caught playing footsie in a bathroom stall this will be forgotten.

Tell me about it. I'm STILL in the middle of dealing with the dealership and corporate over the rear TSB and I haven't gotten called back by corporate after my last 3 calls. I'm only about 700 miles from the end of my warranty too but at least it's been looked at once and I have a case number.

Yep and if it was cheap I would stick FZJ80 axles underneath to have fully locked rear/front.

I just checked private value for
2007 Toyota Tacoma 4WD Double Cab Long Bed 4D $23,030

    Trade in value $19,850

P.S. Maybe its not going to be easy to buy one. Just searched 500 miles radius for DBL cab + Long Bad white and I could not find a single one Lol
