    You bet!

@markmizzou I read something today saying they are working with nationwide vendors like home depot to receive affected units for return. My guess is they will try to use their existing distribution channel to get bad units back to them in bulk through a drop off program. We will see!

The goal for Kidde is to get affected units "off the street", and less about accountability for those of us claiming replacements.

I thank you also OP .
I called today and have 2 new ones coming in 15 to 20 working days . He assured me I will not have to pay anything to return the old ones and the new ones will come with instructions to get them returned .

Sounds like a great idea if they do indeed follow that procedure.

I got my first replacement Kidde boat fire extinguisher today . Woo Hoo !
Anyway , SAVE all packaging as mine came with instructions to replace the old one in the same boxes , seal it , put on the enclosed label , then call for pickup and tell them it is a hazardous material .
this has got to be costly !
Edit , to be clear , save the packaging that the new ones come in .

Did they replace it with the same/similar model? One of the sites said they were replacing them with metal-handled ones - I like where my affected fa110g sits in the truck, if they're replacing with something that doesn't fit, that's gonna be sad for me. :(

Yes it is the same size but the handle is now metal . I am to get 2 new ones total , they are both different sizes and I only received one so far. I suppose some are more plentifully stocked than others .

My 2 new ones arrived last Wed. They included prepaid shipping labels to ship the old ones back -- I have a day off tomorrow from being the "gopher" helper on my Daughter's new deck-- will do shipping then

Pretty much our whole collection of fire extinguishers. Anyone know the problem exactly?

I had 8 on the list. Hey sent new ones out with instructions to put the old ones in the same box the new one came in and call FedEx to have them picked up. They included paid return labels. FedEx picked them up at the door, no problem.
Only strange thing, they keep sending me extinguishers, beyond the number I needed replaced. Maybe a goodwill gesture. I don't know.

    As in what's the defect?

The plastic handle is poor quality. It either breaks and fails to function at all... or in some cases... it breaks free of the neck on the bottle (while under pressure) and shoots off the extinguisher - potentially causing harm to the user.

Both my extinguishers (kitchen and truck unit) were recalled. I got my kitchen unit replaced. But my truck was in the shop for 3 weeks. Checked that extinguisher when I got the truck back. So waiting on it's replacement now.
