I received my (2) replacements last week. Took almost 2 months, but they're here now!
They are named and look different from my old recalled ones, but still are the same size and values ( 5 B C).
I'm going to send the old ones (as requested) hopefully by the end of this week.

I called in and requested 2 the day or so after the recall was announced . I received my 1st on Nov. 18th . I called again and asked about the second on about Dec. 18th . I was told it should come in a week or so from them . I think I will call again since it is still not here .

I'm not calling unless they keep sending them, at that point it will start to resemble the fruit of the month club. :bananadance:
I didn't ask them to send more, they just did so I figure it's a drain on my time and energy to have to deal with unsolicited deliveries. That's how you respond when you get old and cranky.

One thing about the replacements, the safety pins don't stay in for s**t. You need to take off the little zip retainer they ship them with to make them emergency ready and then the pin just falls out.

The zip retainers are intended to be broken by pulling the pin.

Now that that boat has sailed, however, all is not lost. They can likely be replaced with items such as a thin chunk of saran wrap or masking tape or a hairtie/rubber band. Anything that will tear easily or stretch enough to allow the pin to release easily. Attempt at your own risk, I don't take liability for your actions etc.

Your best bet however, would probably to contact Kidde and ask for advice. They are the experts, after all.

I'm not the circus strong man nor am I a total weakling but those zip ties are pretty hard to break. I tried on the chance that that was how they were supposed to function. In an emergency situation I believe they would be a hindrance and it would be a shame to have to hunt up a pair of scissors at a time like that.

Add my thanks for this thread -- otherwise I would never have known. I put my request in before Thanksgiving, called them mid-December and got the "we're overwhelmed with requests" answer, then got an e-mail in late December announcing a delay. Mine finally came last week. The return was painless.
