Dude. Every single dealer is different and they ARE NOT TOYOTA! Seriously, each dealer is independently owned and operated and there are no Toyota owned dealers. Your poll will not tell anyone anything. Toyota issued a recall, a set of instructions and some parts. How it is executed is up to a handful of individuals at each dealership. From the guy who had a fight with his wife the night before to the guy who has to stretch to get his IQ above 70 to the guy who is half asleep because he is working two jobs to make ends meet. These are the people who will make your dealer experience good or bad.

I wouldn't make an appointment based on a letter from Toyota without knowing if your dealer has the parts as most dealers do not have them yet....

I have other issues as well that need to be addressed sooner than later. AC fan impeller behind glove box cracked. Now it wobbles and it sounds like a monster is living in the glove box. Plus the VSC light is on along with a warning message to have it checked. Diff also has a wet Mark that goes from the top on the passenger side to the bottom by the drive shaft. Yeah answer to your question... I am getting a loaner:mad:

I know they are all different but if you call Toyota direct like I have twice before they are Toyota. things get fixed earlier and get done right. Ive personally never had a major recall like this one happen to any of my new cars. 3 new 4 used. just seeing if the majority of folks are having good luck. if everyone was complaining Id call the CSR at the dealership and set up a meeting prior too the repair.

You think this is a major recall? :facepalm:They're checking bolt torque and possibly replacing a gasket, hardly anything major about that.

Imagine if it was your frame that needed to be replaced just like some 1st and 2nd gen owners had to deal with in the past and dealerships were still doing the work.

yes I do since if the fluid leaks out completely and the rear end locks up or grenades id be sol on the side of the road. I drive a ton to work and back all highway speeds. so yeah its kinda a big deal. its mechanical, not a simple door handle programing failure.

Then start looking for a puddle underneath your truck if you're so worried. There's nothing stopping you from crawling under your truck / car from time to time and doing a little inspection.

Have you noticed evidence of leaking in your driveway so that you're losing fluid so bad it will lockup or have you let your fear run so rampant that every trip in your truck will likely be your last?

Jesus...... some of you people have lost your minds over this recall announcement.

Just as an FYI, dealers are not stocking parts for this recall, they order parts when your truck is determined to need them. This takes anywhere from 3 weeks to a couple of months of your truck sitting outside the dealer while you drive a Yaris or worse. Many like myself who have weeping but not major leaks are waiting until things settle down a bit. Some dealers have up to 80 trucks waiting for repair.

Took my lowly 2016 SR5 Double Cab in for the rear diff recall evaluation and lo and behold it failed. They tell me it'll be 3-4 weeks, BUT in place of the rental Camry they threatened to give me, I insisted I needed a truck....out comes a 2017 TRD Off Road! Needless to say it's going to be hard to turn this back in....need to figure out a game plan to do an even swap...haha...?
