Reccomendations on synthetic winch rope?

When I bought my taco it came with a smittybuilt winch. The cable on there right now is a little frayed in a couple spots, so I would like to change to a synthetic rope. Any good recommendations on brands or sizes?

+2 for Masterpull, they make great lines and in the USA. I've got a tree saver and snatch block from them and will get one of their lines down the road when the stock comeup wears out. Really I wish Factor55 made winch lines, their kinetic ropes and soft shackles are awesome and made in USA.

Without knowing the size of Your Wench hard to tell you what size is best for your Winch .

I went bigger and longer when I swapped over .

 

Holy Shit! $459 for rope on a winch? I'll keep my cable.

 

For most people I'd bet this is more than adequate.

 

My buddy had the atv stuff from there and it sucked.

 

If you switch over check your spool for a smooth surface. Deep scratches or gouges need to be taken care of as they can damage synthetic rope.

 

You get what you pay for with recovery gear. You value a $35 recovery rope? Sure go ahead, not me thanks...

I’m retired SOF and do both military and civilian driving and recovery training. international 4 wheel drive training association certified instructor.

 

Custom splice. Cheap and strong. Or Jm rigging. I’ve had a custom splice rope on my winch for years with tons of abuse and no cleaning and no issues. Done enough hard pulls to bend the eyelet at the end as well

Another vote for custom splice. I’ve used there stuff without any issues and I use my winch a lot!

 

Talk to the guys at Guardian of Bravery, they use and splice them. Their ropes are made in the USA, which is a major plus. They made our buddy a custom synthetic which line based on his vehicles' weight.

So as far as I know they splice their ropes in the USA, but the ropes they use are imported. Big difference. There are a few companies using the word Made in the USA. But what they mean is that they splice in the USA.

I was just reading about that and do everything I can to buy made in the US products (or Germany or Japan if not US). Good info

 

Jm rigging stuff is made in southern Utah as well and makes it all himself. Good guy as well
