This is a new one to me. I have a 2007 Tacoma (access cab - Prerunner 2.7L). I did the 'green wire' mod on the climate control that lets me CHOOSE weather I want to use AC or not when the defrost vents are used. THAT WAS AWESOME!

So here is the problem - I took the car in to have the gas pedal recall done (yeah I know - not really needed with a stick shift ....but if I decide to sell it I can say that all of the recalls were taken care of). When I got it back - now the recirc button shuts OFF every time I restart the truck. In other words - if I shut it down with the recirc ON - the next morning when I start the truck it will be OFF. I've tried holding the button for 5 seconds, etc but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?? I thought this was only a 'FEATURE' in the 2010+.

Well, interestingly enough - my 2007 never did it until I did the green wire mod. And even then it didn't do it till after I did the gas pedal mod. I am wondering if they flashed the computer or something......

That recirc button so far on my 2012 has been a pain, I guess I'll figure it out one of these days. I hate to think the truck is smarter than me.

    Yes,

When you first start you truck turn off the air recycle and let it pull from the outside. Once your air starts to cool off a bit then hit the air recycle on and it will help cool your truck down faster.

Correct. I live in Hell/Az so its gets wicked hot. I normally start with the windows down, blower on low, no air recycle and let it go for about 1-2min or until the air starts to cool. as soon as it cools, full blast, windows up, air recycle on.

My soon to be fix for this is remote start, leave it on full blast and sit there from my office window watching the truck cool down for 5 min or so till I walk out :)

Use Recirc only when running the AC.
Running it with heat or just the fan will increase the cabin humidity from your breath and potentially fog the glass.

Personally, when I get in the truck on a hot afternoon, I leave recirc off and the window part way down... lets the fan blow the hot air out (since the cabin air is hotter than the outside air).
Once the cabin temp equalizes and I start feeling a nice chill from the ducts, then I'll turn recirc back on.

When I get too cold, I'll shut it off again.

On my '08, recirc remains on after cycling the ignition. I kinda wish it shut off like the newer models.
I also wish it automatically shut off when the AC is off.
