This one is a bare bones basic CB that's tried & true. I have two of them. One is mounted in my jeep and the other we use to swap back-n-forth in our other vehicles.

    Uniden 520XL
    [IMG]

I had one in my 96 tacoma also - fit perfectly where the ash tray was.

After a hurricane came through our area, the cell towers were either inoperable or jammed up. A CB would have been much easier than pulling everyone off to the side of the road on our way back.

    Use it for traveling......

Traveling with a group of people to communicate to eachother. Use it to monitor truckers - traffic & police information. Truckers are funny as hell to listen to.

I plugged in my Uniden with a 24" K40 power whip on my jeep and I'm able to reach truckers on the highway which is about 1-2 miles away from my house. Never had it tuned....

Get a good one. Don't mess around with a POS or you'll regret it. (That is my $0.02 worth).

That CB is actually in my Prelude right now, and I replace it with a Blue Tooth 29 Cobra for the Tacoma. ;)

Over here is CA the coast guard, and ships use 16 and you get yelled at for screwing around on that channel.
