that's how this thread originated. Mickey Thomson said they don't fit but people claimed to have them installed without issue. Kind of hard to use people's builds as reference if some Tacomas have oversize calipers.

Glad I found this thread, I was about to order some 16'' Classic Locks for my TRD Sport, looks like they wouldn't have fit.

    x2...

im running that same backspace and with long travel, i have a little bit of rub at full turn... and squeezing in and out of traffic is always a nail biter with that much width...

I don't like the look of the Locks but I'm thinking I'll go that route. They have 4" backspacing which sounds like it may be the sweet spot. Classic IIs only have 3-5/8 (rubbing issues) and 4-7/16 (hits caliper)

Offroads may have smaller calipers or perhaps vehicles manufactured in certain areas do. I still don't understand how Chris is running Classic IIs at 4-7/16 without shaving the caliper:Chris' build

I need to make sure they will clear my gusseted spindles as well. Can you snap a pic of the space between the wheel/tire and your spindle?

I have heard that the calipers are slightly larger on the sport due to the vsc option, but I dont know this for sure.
The black wheels are a new item and haven't been around as long as the polished wheels. There may be a slight difference between the black wheels and polished wheels. I got my classic locks in 2009 and painted them black because black wheels were not available at that time.

I have a 1st gen and the 4-7/16 classic II did not fit over the caliper. I reordered the 3-5/8 and they fit. I'm running 265/70/16 tires, so I'm hoping there won't be any rubbing issues.

From what the guy at the shop told me, different trim models come with different calipers. (ie 4-7/16 should fit on a 2nd gen DC)

UM, I am pretty sure the TRD Offroad and TRD Sport come with the same identical caliper and rotor. Someone correct me if I am wrong (with some actual evidence please) on this.

I took my 16" TRD Ivan Stewert rims off my TRD OR and installed them on my TRD Sport when I got it with no issue. Now I am looking at the Classic lock or Classic lock II in 16" for more sidewall offroading and so I dont have to buy new tires when I make the switch.

Hi all ive been reading the posts and from what i have gathered is that the 16" MT Black Classic 2's would fit 2nd gen tacomas that came with 16" wheels. So my base 2006 4x4 Access Cab tacoma would have no problems running the 16x8 MTC2's with 4.4375 BS right????? I ask this question because ive only seen of talk with members with sport and off road versions. (ive searched this topic but it seems to be like a roller coaster of fact and opinions) Thank you to anyone who replies.

I am ordering the classic II's this winter. In black I may add. I have a trd sport, so I'll let all of you know what happens. It seems to me that I will be ok with 4.43B.S. well see how it turns out though.

Picked these up from a junk yard for $150...all four :D:D

Turns out they are ProComp 6079's. I painted them flat and I found out that the little studs around the lip of the wheel are removable so I bronzed them. Also I guess they make rock rings for these too..

I fucking hate this thread! I have read it like 8 times and become more unsure every single time. Damn sales reps at random shops don't help either cause they are more clueless than me....

    I want the MT Classic II's in black, but not sure what part# to go with, 1268411 (4.437" b/s; 0 offset) OR 1268412 (3.625" b/s; -22 offset)?

I have a 2012 4x4 DCSB TRD Offroad. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks TW!

3.625" backspace on a second gen is too much... i run that backspace on my first gen and with 6" flare fiberglass fenders, they still stick out past the fenders...

4.4" would sit a bit closer in for your truck...

I am not too worried about them sticking out as much as I am worried about them not fitting due to hitting the caliper. However, what does concern me is them sticking out too far for when I go wheelin.
