I'm looking at getting my OEM headlights retrofitted with Lexus RX350 HID projectors. Before you ask...

No, I won't use Morimoto or some other knockoff HID components. OEM (Lexus) or bust.
No, I don't trust my skills enough to attempt this as a DIY project.
No, high wattage halogen bulbs won't really work for my needs. The performance is awesome, but I really need better bulb life.

So, with that out of the way, who do you guys recommend for getting retrofits done? I'll likely have to supply at least some of the components, which is expected. Reputation and warranty are both of interest.

@TRSAndrew built mine! I’d also give a shoutout to Karr’s Modified Lighting:

BX Built does awesome retrofits. I don’t think he’s on here, but look him up on IG. He build me a set from OEM housings with LED projectors.

Bi-LEDs, so they function as both the high and low beams. I’m not knowledgeable enough to talk specs on them. They put out good light and are sealed well. Haven’t had moisture problems in the rainy Alaskan fall.

Some of his posts he talks about the types of components he uses:

Is there not a commonly-accepted “best” shop for this sort of work? Like ECGS for regearing or Tom Woods for single-piece driveshafts?

Can’t say I’m familiar with any of those companies/people/acronyms. Looks like I have some research to do.

Lexus LS460R built by Andrew over 5 years ago. Still going strong.

I believe the go-to forum for this type of stuff is HIDplanet

but I've never heard of a go-to shop that does it.

I wonder why not use Morimoto.
One time I put Bosch AL E46 projectors retrofitted into another car. Gen 2 or Gen 3. They come on Audi R8 & B8, Aston Martin, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Fiat 500, and more. Was not hard to find for $40-80. That combined with good (at the time) Osram CBI D1S bulbs (HID), was a good upgrade. Bi-xenon. I don't remember if I painted the cutoff shield or put clear lenses.

At the time, people were talking about using a new Koito bi-LED coming out on a new Prius or something, and maybe Acura TL lights (old model)
However, the issue with TL's (on that car) was they're big and don't fit.
    IDK about the Tacoma.

I would be curious to know what fits (hopefully a lot, given the headlight's big size)
    and what performs well.
Due to it being 2020 and a lot of new technology having been released.
Nowadays cars have bi-xenon, LED, laser, and so on.
It is not hard to buy such good OEM lights from a car that has been crashed and totaled, to buy from a part-out.

Oem is not all that IMO. I did the Morimoto bolt-on projectors and the projectors are a great value. They are pretty easy to install, once you understand that you will have to monkey with them. Yet I highly suggest the tool they offer. As well I suggest trimming the 3 prong area of the headlight bulb area so you can adjust the angle left and right for the proper cut-off. Yet if you're saying you don't like the electronics and cheap bulbs, I totally understand. Yet I haven't had any issues out of the ballasts. But if you really want to spend $1k to have someone build them go for it. I think you can heat some headlights and do some minor trimming. If you change your mind and need more help let me know.

Those look fantastic, like they could've come from the factory. That's exactly what I'm going for. How do the LS460R projectors compare to the RX350?

I requested to keep it all chrome mainly for that reason, the factory look. There are only a handful of Tacoma’s with these projectors, but I’ve also heard nothing but good things about the RX350’s. Karr’s Modified Lighting(Kevin Karr) has done a few RX350 retrofits. You honestly can’t go wrong with either. The LS460R’s have a wide beam pattern. I also aimed to keep it in the Toyota/Lexus family
