It attracts attention after they've already broken into the truck?

Yeah I wasn't trying to make fun of OP or his situation, but when he mentioned the "peculiar smell" (probably a mixture of meth & bum) I immediately thought of that movie. Plus, sometimes in shitty situations such as this the best thing you can do is have a good laugh for a moment.

In this case I was to be blamed that it was an easy to take truck. We live out in the country and hardly ever pull keys, I know it sounds crazy to city folks but we just never have had an problems until now. :) I guess we will get some security cameras up and pull keys now. I don't know for certain how she did it, but my guess is she came by and saw the truck sitting there and decided to see if it is unlocked.

I had thought that I told one of our employees to pull the key and lock the truck since we were going to be away for the weekend but he put the keys above the visor.

Someone here did a great writeup on how to install a kill switch.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/kill-switch-mod-write-up.88252/

Was able to install mine in 20 min. I did however change the location of where i installed my switch. Gives me a little piece of mind that if they break in at least they cant start it. Glad to hear you got your truck back.

Something is better than nothing. Even the club, which can be defeated in less than 20 seconds, is something.

With a kill switch, real car thieves are experts at finding them. If you put one in, think someone watches you get in and start it. So the switch should be somewhere they can't see you reach for. Like I jump in, lean to the right to grab the seat belt with my left hand, my right hand can touch the switch at the same time without being obvious.

I see some going to extremes like putting a boot on a wheel.
