    Sorry, that was a statement.

    I have a half dozen crosby 3/4 and a crosby 7/8

    and one arb 3/4

    and a CM 5/8

I'd trust a CM too, but I do like Crosby.

    No flying chinese shackles here!

What are us 4 cylinder guys supposed to use to attach snatch straps to the passenger side recovery point? I bought a ARB 17000lb strap but couldnt find a correct size shackle. Im having a heck of a time finding a appropriate strength shackle that will fit.

It's a tie down point for transport. Those folded 3/16" D shaped tie down points on the front of all toy's.

He needs to upgrade to a real recovery point.

So this is not a recommended recovery point? 1/2inch D shackle is the only thing I could find to fit. Im planning on a hitch for the back how can i get a beefy recovery point in the front without going plate bumper?

Just order the tow hook and the longer bolts like others have. I thought about ordering another hook and bolts and have two hooks up front.

Matt took my recommendations for his shackle mounts to heart so...

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...ry-shackle-replacement-off-road-tow-hook.html

Or order up the TRD one from Toyota

Does he not have the loop on the driver side of the bumper? I managed to fit a monster shackle on mine, biggest sized pin you could possibly fit though that loop. Had to pretty much jam the shackle part way into the bumper to get it to work but it fit. I imagine any shackle smaller than that should fit easily since I think my cutout around the loop is smaller than the factory skid cutout.

After reading other posts I was thinking that one is a tie down for transport and the passenger side is the recovery.

Oh really? I see what you mean from the previous posts, but I've used mine and seen others use theirs for recovery as well with no issues.

Not sure how well it will hold up if you had to jerk the rig to get it unstuck but I've used mine as a winch point before without issue. That huge shackle I mentioned above, wouldn't fit in my bumper. (FYI, Hi-lift winching is sketchy... haha)

Damn lol I drove around all day looking for a damn shackle and didn't even consider the drivers side a recovery point lol. The Toyota recovery hook looks good though im just going to get that.

i personally dont like that idea at all. sticks out soo far, olny held on with 2 bolts...looks like its easy to apply a ton of leverage on it and bend it or break it

A little long yes but attaches no different than the factory tow hook with two bolts. :notsure:
