For those wanting some performance out of their VVTi system, these solenoids show some promise. Myself and @SUMOTNK have been pulling some strings and been in talks with Red Bullet Solenoids and have a potential group buy in the works. At the time of this writing there is no limit on how many folks can be in on the group buy, but once the buy is on be aware if you are further down the list you may be limited and have to wait until the next GB wave. Information has changed a bit, but just know that if these work out favorably, then distribution of these solenoids may make it stateside for quick and easy access.

Notable power gains in the mid range power band have been noted, driveability issues have been resolved, and as an unwarranted side effect, fuel economy is higher than before. Your mileage may vary based on usage, and weight of your truck.

    Polish_20210807_000247007.jpg

Benefits come in form of additional torque under the curve. Low and mid range powerband gets a nice kick from this.

The downside to this as with any performance item comes with the price. However, it's a great replacement solution for those having VVT solenoid issues much like myself which emanate themselves in various ways (intermittent or frequent hard to start issues, cold engine misfire issues, and hesitation at take off from idle or low speeds, or direct VVT related codes)

Couple these solenoids with the tuning power of HPTuners and you have an absolutely STELLAR platform to make the most of your potential power output.

    FAQ:

    - Will these require I pull my intake manifold or supercharger to replace? NO, just remove your throttle body and slide it to the side.

    - How long does it take to replace these? It depends on whether or not your engine is cold, on cold engines I would say about 20-30 minutes at most. On hot engines slightly longer due to the potential burn your fingers and hands factor because of the bolts relative location to the coolant manifold.

    Photo below of location:

    - Are these plug and play? Is anything else required? Yes it is plug and play, and while nothing else is required, in order to optimize them for maximum effectiveness, I do recommend HPTuners.

    - What gen are these for? 2nd gen only. It is unknown if these are direct replacements for the 3rd gen Tacoma at the time of this writing. 3rd gen guys will have to study and research their solenoids on their own in order to know if they are the same part number and design as the 2nd gens.

Pricing as of right now comes in at $300 for a pair of solenoids (2). @SUMOTNK is handling the group buy participants with payment and shipment/ pick up of solenoids, so if any question, feel free to post here or message him. The 1GR engine is single VVTi so only two will be needed.

    None at this point
Do both sets have to be installed or can I get away with only one set to get the performance boost?

Yes, I would think so. A lot of the applications for these modified solenoids are for NA or hybrid engines. Strangely, a segment of the Prius crowd has a favorable opinion on these solenoids.

So $500 is already the posted sale price. What are you hearing for a discount on top of that?
