Heard back from Red Bullet but nothing new on the 1GRFE front. Unfortunately, they're still waiting on the GB pricing from the solenoid/bracket factories.

Hey quick question. When you do those cam gears, I've seen some videos for other Toyota's, and they all say to finger-tighten the bolt that holds it on the cam, and then use compressed air to unlock it via the hole in the cam, rotate it, then torque it down, and then make sure it's locked before installing the cam.
Is that correct? Why unlock it before it's tightened if you're just going to lock it right back before the reinstalling?

Ya I don’t know. I hold the cam with a 24mm and the bolt with a 17mm and break it loose then locktite it back on to torque spec. No compressed air, no rotating shit just slip out the gear and slip in the new one.

So does red bullet have a 'track' version? QS released a track version and apparently has a tiered system of focus be it fuel economy or power.

I am tempted to try it.

    @Lucario Runner Et al.

This is from Red Bullet. Take it for what its worth.

That one I was told uses a smaller solenoid with stronger magnets. There was a design flaw to the smaller solenoid which was heat build up, I remember the manufacturer recommended the original one for longevity and the smaller one aka track version has a shorter life span.
The performance on the smaller solenoid is near to identical vs the regular size, and when the magnet start to fail due to heat build up on the track or compact version, the solenoids will fail or reduce performance before the regular version. The track marketing makes sense but I really think the premature failure will result in a lot of negative reviews before warranty is finished. For a truck, I would suggest to go with the larger solenoid producing less heat and also dissipating more with surface area.

I've been emailing RB on a weekly basis asking for an update. Their answer has remained the same for the last few weeks. (awaiting pricing info, etc)

Trust me, this is disheartening to me too but I haven't given up as nothing has been wasted except my time. And luckily, no deposits nor monies have been transferred.

Are the brackets that they are supposedly waiting on something that has to be made, and are integrally attached to the solenoid or something, or are they just captive, and we could remove and reuse our originals on the new solenoids? I know there were pictures of the solenoids on the thread somewhere, but I didn't look very hard and didn't see them.

Unfortunately this is just the size of R&D guys.

I can't tell you how long it took for the NST pulley group buy to materialize to the rest of the crew on here after my prototypes were sent out for sampling and testing. I'm sure a lot of you remember.

Couple in the fact that we are on some sort of stupid worldwide shortage and here we are. Disheartening, I know, but it'll happen with some patience.

I'm in no rush. They'll just sit in my garage with the rest of the "to do" pile. I mean mountain. But really, everyone does need to calm down. Just google global supply chain issues and you'll have a better understanding. You can't provide a price when material costs and delays are so erratic. I think the latest is a worldwide steel shortage.

I've been negotiating with RB the last couple days. Right now, the quote for a pair is in the low $300.

I'm trying to squeeze any discount out of this but the next pricing tier will involve over 200 units.

So to summarize, the initial "NOT SET IN STONE" quote for our 40x interested parties, is under $325/pair.

I am trying to finalize the EXACT price from RB and then figure out shipping costs and logistics.

Keep your holding pattern Gents.... progress is slow but being made.

    Aw yeah.

I might actually be able to get in on this.

Did anyone ever confirm whether the full benefit was seen out of a pair or if both sides were needed?
