Interested....would like to see a M/T run these on the dyno for some solid repeatable numbers. Looks like you are trading off some top end for better low to mid range power. I'd be willing to throw down a $20 to fund someone with a M/T to do 3 before and after pulls.

Sorry for the delay. I've sat on this reply because I'm awaiting clarity from vendor regarding the GB. He has stated that he would prefer a single monetary transaction for the GB versus individual transactions. I'm waiting on his answer on when (timeframe) they will be able to ship the solenoids once the $$$ is fulfilled. And I'm also awaiting details on whether the vendor will ship out the orders individually from Taiwan or if he plans to ship me a box full of solenoids and I have to dole them out. If it's the latter, then I need to figure out shipping, etc.

But I did get some clarity on the GB too. The current price is $325 (shipping TBD). The initial group buy is min/max 50x participants. Minimum meaning we need 50x paid participants for 50x pairs of solenoids. Maximum meaning I'm uncomfortable with any more participants if this is going to require payment up front to a single source (me?) before wiring the total $$$ amount to the vendor. Consider me a skeptic, and the reason I waited on this reply, is because I'm concerned we may not be able to find 50x people willing to send ~$325 to a complete stranger (me?) and wait for an overseas vendor to fulfill their order.

I also deducted that it will take an GB of over 200+ participants (We're at 42ish) with this to achieve a further discount and it would only be about another $50 off.

I also found out that there are two solenoids manufacturers in Taiwan. Red Company and Gold Company. They use to be in bed together until a fallout and split. Red has the bracketry/mold for the 1GR solenoids. Quantum buys from Red. Quantum is unhappy with this GB and has complained to Red. Gold company now has a set of stock 1GR solenoids (Thanks to @12TRDTacoma ) They can start to create the mold/bracketry for it but an initial production run would require a minimum of 200 pairs. But if that were to happen, the playing field would be even between Red and Gold and their competition may end up being beneficial to the consumer. But that's speculation on my part.

Anyways, hopefully this provides additional transparency to all interested parties right now. Please cap this GB at 50x people.

I'll update again when our vendor gets back to me. And regarding if payment for these are sent to me personally, if this is an issue for you and you would like to back out, please speak up. And if there is another simple escrow option, speak up too, I would love to consider it. Right now, all I can think of is paypal/venmo/Gpay me $$$ and then I wire $15-16k dollars over to him in Taiwan and then my hands are clean of this. Shipping TBD.

Yes and Yes. I believe I have voiced that QS and RB are selling essentially the identical product. Not pepsi versus coca-cola. It's coke vs coke.

My speculation earlier had to do with the economics of things once Gold is capable of producing the 1GR solenoid.

This is why QS is grumpy about this GB.

I'm guessing QS is following this thread. If the Tacoma ones weren't so much more expensive than the other ones they sell, I'd have bought from them already ;-)

Also $800 for the track soleloids that wear out quicker? IDK that there is a $300 difference in material nor R&D between the Race and the Normal ones...

    1. I think a batch of 50 is reasonable and I will cap it at that for now unless there is reason to change that later.
    2. I gave Quantum ample chance to fulfill an answer to my questions regarding if they were in for a group buy. They took nearly FOUR months to reply. FOUR MONTHS! They can go fuck themselves for the official record. They dropped the ball and shot themselves in the foot. They can be upset and grumpy all they want, but at the end of the day it was their own lack of attentiveness that cost them in the end.
    3. I personally don't appreciate the hyperinflated pricing that Coke is charging for the same solenoid that their sibling company Coke is charging for theirs.
    4. That is all :D:thumbsup:

All who wanted to be added to the list have been added.

@o0opackersfano0o do you want to get logged for a set?

Reserved spots are now limited so if anyone wants in they need to be clearly specific in saying that they want in.

    re: international order.

Send monies into an account at a bank that will be handling the transaction.
Find out from Supplier if their price is FOB landed at US port? They should then cover the Insurance as well, but do get that from them in writing. (thousands of containers per year are lost overboard, only to be seen by crabs, and shrimp)
You'll want to know shipping via ship (ie space in a container) or by air. Shipping by air is costly right now, as the demand is high.
Ship by boat is slow (think 4 months minimum)

You'll want to know if there are going to be customs, and brokerage fees. Get the supplier to cover the brokerage fees if at all possible, so that they are responsible to clear brokerage, and deliver to your door. Most will. IF the order is FOB to your door, then they are covering it; If it is FOB to the US port of entry, then you are responsible. Customs fees - you would want to find out if there are any tariffs on these auto parts, and what the rate is.

Bank & Escrow. The Bank will charge either a flat simple fee for processing the paperwork, or a percentage. They need a form of signed contract/order along with the supplier's banking information, and presumably they are doing the deal in $USD, so there is no exchange involved.
I suspect this order is small enough the Bank will do a flat processing fee.
The escrow part is the monies is put into 'international escrow' (there's likely some official name for it) by your bank, and the monies is released on proof of shipment by the supplier.

If the supplier does business in the US, has a US company setup here, then all of the above is taken care of by the US entity.

    Hope that helps.

if it may be months to receive these i will be patient-ish. if another member is seriously bummed about not making the list cap i will consider passing my spot to them. consider me a potential baton passer for the right individual.

This has always been a thing with the supercharger community. All things require an extensive wait time. It's just a thing when it comes to R&D. Patience is a virtue. You should know this Jesse! :D
