Maybe you all can help determine if this is normal but do shops normally need your truck for a week with a reservation to regear both axles?

Shop in our area would be 1 to 2 days, depending on tech(s) availability and walk up work that might deserve attention.

Pulling apart the diff's installing new ring and pinion (i dont think they need the master rebuild kit with only 35k mile on it)

The shop is working on multiple simultaneous jobs. They perform work as the talent frees up (matrix organization), and parts arrive.

In and out the same day for regear F&R with adding an E-Locker in the front and I believe he even went to lunch. This is a shop that all they do is gearing. That is who I would choose. Not a shop that does gears occasionally.

The quote was Driveline service of North Atlanta (found on the forum)
"labor would be 850 front 750 rear , would take about a week. Would have to make an appointment." (with me supplying the kit)

Another quote came back Labor 20hr (3k dollars) and Timeline 3 days. (im supplying the kit at 1k dollars)

you know its expensive when he says "ill ask around and see if the techs want to do it"

4wheel parts is calling me back with a full quote for the work. they already said labor would be 450 ish per side (so thats cheaper) but it would be 100 dollars more labor per side if i brought the parts.

I just had mine done at ORW - Marrietta for $1489 for installation. I supplied the parts of course. Just got fluid changed yesterday after the break in period.

Edit: I forgot to add that it took 2 and half days for them to do it.

This ^^ except I'm 2wd, I paid $1182 for the rear swap. They change your fluids for free after your break in period too. Mine took about a full day for them to finish.
