This is just an FYI in case you're unaware.... this will vary for each State pending on how your registration fees/classes are applied. So just in case - you might want to *look into* your registration on your 05+ tacoma.

The information below is within Pennsylvania:
(again, this will vary by state)
I owned a 96 tacoma and it was registered as Class I and I paid $56. The old tacoma had a GVWR of 5,000lbs (or close to).

I owned a Dodge Ram which was registered as Class II. The Ram GVWR was 6,400lbs and Class II is between 5,100-7,000lbs.

I bought my 2007 Tacoma and it was put into Class II because the newer tacomas have a GVWR of 5,350lbs which automatically put it into Class II (same class as the Dodge Ram and $81 to register).

Pennsylvania folks who don't necessarily tow much with your tacoma - You can change the GVWR of your truck (on your title and registration) to anything you want (Class I for example) as long as you don't put it below the unladen weight (3,870lbs). Unladen weight is the actual vehicle weight.

If you want to reduce your class to save yourselves a few bucks each year in registration.... You need to fill out this form.

Be forewarned - the last time I talked to PennDot, there was a $15 fee to process this paperwork. I haven't actually done this yet, but I definately gotta get 'on the ball' and do it.

So - if you own an 05+, look at your registration (or whatever your state calls it) and make sure you're not paying too much for the actual usage of the truck.

If this is old news - please ignore me. :D
