Hey everyone! Just installed the relentless fab HC rear bumper on my 16' tacoma.. love the bumper and tire carrier, but, now when i drive on concrete highways my whole damn truck shakes/bounces. Didn't have this problem before the bumper. I have an ADS suspension kit.. ext resi's.. and dakars in the back. Running 33"'s.

Is the tire bouncing at all on the carrier? Having that much weight behind the rear axle can cause some unwanted bouncing if the tire carrier allows the tire to move around.

His tire carrier is mounted to the frame, pretty sure there is some structure there.

You stuck a whole bunch of weight further back. That change in weight distribution is going to upset the balance of the stock suspension. You probably need more shock and maybe more spring to compensate for it. Or if you have adjustable suspension, try that.

Edit: Didn't read that you had suspension. Probably needs some adjustment.

Sounds similar to "porpoising," like what trailer towers experience. Weight added behind the rear axle creates that back-of-the-school-bus bounce. You probably need to stiffen up the rear springs.

Oh, you might try changing the speed at which you are moving.... sometimes I hit a stretch of concrete and between the spacing of the joints and 60mph it gets a little bouncy (I guess it's the resonant frequency), I speed up or slow down and all is good.

I was thinking i probably need to either: A- screw with my shock valving, or B - add an add a leaf to my pack to stiffen them..

Thank you! Would you recommend just going straight to replacing the hangers, or screw with the shocks first?

Screw with the shocks first to see if that can get you to a point where you're happy - that's free lol. I do think that the hangers were a very worth-while addition though.

Seems to be common to body on frame vehicles, every truck I've driven does this to some degree. Not sure if there's a way to completely eliminate it.

well sadly.. i was dumb enough to not get the compression adjusters.. so.. i have to ship them in to ADS.
Did you just do the hangers, or did you do the crossbar too?

Ah ok - I assumed with ADS shocks you had the adjusters.

I did get the crossbar but have not installed it yet. THere's some good info in the Archive thread. Most of the benefit comes from the hangers themselves and then a little extra rigidity comes from the crossbar.

#1regret, not getting adjusters for the rears.

Ill start looking there then, thanks a bunch man. Do you have compression adjusters on your shocks? And did adjsuting them really make any difference?
