Which is 100% unrelated to the original question. A 4 link isnt a good first time with a welder project.

Or what about getting shorter rear leaf springs and then moving the rear leaf spring shackles forward to just behind the rear shocks? Will that work as well?

    No

Only thing you can do to do what you described is 3 or 4 link.

You can not just shorter the back half of a leaf spring and expect everything to work.

im with Adam. You don't seem to understand how suspention works and are already digging yourself into a hole you are NOT ready to dig.

Quit while your ahead. Do a LOT of research. Find a good reputable shop and have them do something for you.

    Look at build thread
there would be pretty much no way to relocate the leaf spring mounts and use leaf springs w/o heavy modifications. you would have to do a link setup and even that would need heavy modifications. unless u have lots of welding experience & lots of suspension experience i would steer away from a project like this. i have little welding experience and would NEVER do any welding on my frame/suspension parts. it was stated earlier about bobbing the bed which is what i would lean towards if you are trying to shorten the overall length of your truck (not the wheel base..). The only thing involved in bobbing the bed is cutting & welding the back end of the bed together. you can get about 13" out of the very back end. thats about as much as you can get w/o shortening the wheel base (which requires cutting a chunk out of your frame and a custom drive shaft not to mention lots of welding.)

thats not what the op wants haha. he wants to make the back third of the leaf pack disappear, because apparently the "overhang" is bad

Don't worry. This is one of those that would make more sense if we had Madden diagramming it on a whiteboard.

Of course it would be the equivalent of Madden placing pre-schoolers on the line against pro NFL players.

    Which would make more sense.
