I'll be at RA (Royal Artillery) Park. From there the Army, Navy, Air Force Club... and off to parts unknown.

I find that the Canadians are very respectful of the pastand honour their accomplishments much better than Americans. Tis a good thing.
When in Toronto this past summer we visited a museum that had a great display featuring the uniforms worn in all the wars right up to the current uniform in Afghanistan. I enjoyed my time there.

I am off to our local Veterans Day celebration in about anhour.

We just finished the Rememberance Day parade here in Kingston, Ontario. One thing that struck me is that for the first time in my 17 years career, I didn't see a single WWII veteran anywhere around. I guess time fly!

    Lest we forget

As I've said numerous times and I will again. While I may not always agree with the missions our military is tasked to, I have nothing but the utmost respect for those in uniform who are tasked to do it.

“The first world war came and its cost was laid on the people.
The second world war — the third — what will be the cost.
And will it repay the people for what they pay?...
The little girl saw her first troop parade and asked,
    ‘What are those?’
    ‘Soldiers.’
    ‘What are soldiers?’
‘They are for war. They fight and each tries to kill as many of the other side as he can.’
The girl held still and studied.
‘Do you know ... I know something?’
‘Yes, what is it you know?’
‘Sometime they’ll give a war and nobody will come.’

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch, be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields.

I was the presenter at my own high school and I even invited a former graduate of ours who happens to be in an SF unit right now. Truly inspiring to have your own students in uniform. It's an honor! :D

    Cheers!
