I was thinking of buy one thats used at the local pawn shop. They are asking $480 + tax no scope just wondering if anyone has one and how they like it. Also is that a reasonable price? It is very lightly use no scratched on the exterior of the rifle and very minimal on the follower in the mag. Oh and its the OD green which I like. I'm also in the market for a scope figure I'll get a jump on getting ready for hunting this year so any suggestions would be great.

I actually have one in .223 that I use for coyotes around the farm. I have no complaints with it whatsoever. I am extremely comfortable making consistent 300+ yard shots with it. Some ppl may have had trouble with the triangular barrel, i'm not saying your wrong, but i personally haven't. I say go for it. Thats a really good price IMO.

good to hear a positive review about it. I had just the standard heavy barrel Rem .308 and I loved it. I bought it used with a cheap scope for 600. I say go ahead and get it and put quality optics on it

I bought it and i was even able to talk them down so i got out the door for $484 and he gave me a hard case to put it in for free so now i need a good scope. im thinking 6x24x30 or maybe a little bigger. the longest i should be shooting is 350-400 yards.

luepold hands down would be my choice. They are very good scopes and you can get one for around that.

I have a 3-9-40 vx2 on top of my tc prohunter .308 and love it.

x2 on leupold but they are pricey. Nikon makes excellent optics as well but are a little more affordable.
optics are one thing you never wanna skimp on.
