@bodean, which system did you go with? That arming sequence sounds much more manageable compared to the Viper.

I'll also second Compustar, same sequence I've used to set it on a previous vehicle. Just make sure to keep your parking brake in tune over the years

Something else to consider. Toyota does not want you to add a remote start unless it's a Toyota remote which isn't offered for the manual. If you install one your pretty much on your own as far as warranty is concerned. They pretty much tell you to remove it and return it to stock. This would require a new wiring harness because they don't want any alterations to the data lines.

Please elaborate on this, was this just from your dealer or someone actually knowledgeable on the topic?
I'm sure you're aware of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, simply having aftermarket accessories is not reason for Warranty claim denial.

Right from Toyota. This has nothing to with warranty denial because of aftermarket parts . Your adding an aftermarket device that Toyota isn't going to be responsible for. When you phone the tech line for support they are now asking if the vehicle has a aftermarket remote.

Just to add, they won't deny you warranty, you just have to bring the vehicle back to stock. Because the aftermarket remote taps into the data lines Toyota consider them altered and will make you repair them which means a new wiring harness. Toyota's remote which is now available for the auto Tacoma is an add on controller that doesn't require damaging any wiring harnesses. It's activated using the techstream and is just like any other module in the vehicle.

What does third party through Toyota mean? If your dealer sends the vehicle out to have the remote start put in it's still will void your warranty through Toyota corporate.

So happy they still make these in manual. After switching over from auto I don't think I'll ever go back

Think about all the electrical systems that need to be tapped into to make that work properly. Not the kind of headache I want if something starts going wrong.

And in the end, you're still parking your truck in NEUTRAL which is bad practice since you're relying on the E-brake and nothing else to prevent the truck from rolling.

I believe remote starts in manual transmissions are dumb.

This sounds more inline to what I had in a previous car...

If I recall correctly Audio Shop had customized a PAC-AUDIO Trigger Module to bypass the Directed Electronics sequence (back in 2004)...

Only issue I had one time is that I forgot to leave car in Neutral and pressed the wrong buttons (wanted to roll windows down) on the Remote and AutoStarted car... Realized what I had done, and had to run to car while it was cranking engine, and pushing another car forward... *whoopsies* lol...

The clutch cancel button does not care if the truck is in gear or neutral it will engage the starter regardless, that button was actually made for starting the truck with it in gear.

I don't believe the truck actually has any way of telling if the transmission is in neutral or in gear.

I have a 2019 TRD Off Road DCSB 6M transmission. I went back to the dealership to have the stock remote start activated. I waited a week for the dealership to come to my house only to find out that I cannot have this option installed because of the manual transmission. I’m baffled that the dealership even took my money and sent out a technition knowing damn well that this wouldn’t work.

Has anyone figured out a solution for this? I looked at the plug n play and from the looks of it I can use the Tacoma’s key.

I got a viper few weeks ago. Compustar also makes for MT. All I have to do is stop, neutral, brake, parking brake, release brake, everything blinks a-ok, pull out key, get out, close door and shuts itself off in 15 seconds. It's pretty slick.
