PTS systems don't have a key with a chip, so this doesn't apply to you.

Any information of a remote start with the manual transmission? I know it's not possible or legal to do on other trucks but we have the clutch start cancel.

It should be possible to do. Just gotta find an instsller that'll do it.

If you go viper. You have to put it into remote start mode before you remove key. If you go compustar. I think it does it automatically for you. I think...

I can imagine it would be harder to do on something without clutch start cancel, but why would it be illegal?

I think there was a point in time you couldn't get remote start on manual but then they developed the bypass procedure so you can install that it on manual trannys, but I think they came up with that over 10 years ago.

actually you could get a remote start installed on a manual even before the bypass came out. you just needed to find an installer that would accept that you would take all responsibility if you remote started with it in gear.

we did it to a old Toyota paseo with manual, and since we never left it in gear w/ parking brake, it wasn't an issue.

I was saying at one point. I think manufacturers prohibited installation on manual.

A friend of mine got a remote start installed on his 91 civic. No bypass at the time. He didn't use it often becuase once, he almost hit his garage door cuz he left it in gear. He was always questioning if it was in neutral or not.

The best and easiest way I think is to not do the bypass and use the neutral safety switch to allow the car to start if the vehicle is in neutral. But that also requires a willing instsller to do that for you.

When I have to get something outta my car(civic si), I have to start the car before opening the door. Or else the bypass sequence gets canceled. That sucks. Happy my taco is auto so I don't have to deal with that when I'm using my truck.

We have to wait until one of the bypass module manufactures figures out how to do the "take over" feature.

I dont know if you figured it out yet. But what I did was, I took out the striker in the door for the interior light, and un plugged it. It works just fine now. The truck stays running when you open the driver side door, and still shuts off if you step on the brake. The only downside is, the interior light does not come on when you open the door. I think its well worth the trade off.

I like that. My solution would have been to put duct tape over the dome light, but I don't suppose that would have worked.

but doesn't that interfere with other security/features that sense the door opening closing and not just the remote start?

Probably, fortunately I live in an area where I dont really need the alarm. This works well with multiple trips to the truck and loading stuff. Unfortunately, You still have to let the truck turn off before you can drive. I talked to Toyota today, and they think it is ridiculous for the truck to turn off, just to start it again. But they say its a safety thing

I bought this one. Was super easy to install in about 30-45 minutes. It does shut the engine off if you open the door. But if installed correctly, all push to start remote starters should do this. With a key style, you can put the key in and turn it on before touching the brake pedal and it will stay running..
He has it for sale with best offer. I got it for $120, and he programmed it for my 2016 Tacoma.... so all I had to do was hook it up and finish the super easy installation instructions. I have been a technician since 1975 and this is the easiest I have put on.

The shut off feature when the door opens happens in my 2016 Subaru legacy also... Really annoying

Spidious Do you have any advice on the fortin system install? I'm a little worried about installation not a huge wiring expert. You should create a walk-through!
