I also made the mistake of using a microfiber cloth on mine. Ugh! I tried the PlastiX on it, which works great for headlights and taillights. But, no.

I made the mistake of using that special clear film that they sell comes in a roll. It’s already cut the shape for the plexiglass. Well let me tell you it’s not worth it because over time it starts to discolor and mine was in my truck when I was down in South Carolina, and the stuff started a bubble on its own, so I won’t ever do that again maybe the product can’t handle high heat temperatures it was only 100° outside

How hard is it to remove the white plug on wire harness with out damaging the plug ? Also do the wire plugs have any release clips on them ? Thank you for your input ?

It’s not difficult to replace at all. Lots of YT DIY vids. I've been replacing those things since our 1st Gen Tundra and after two decades R&R is still just about the same. Replacement is cheap too (around $30 last I looked).

Like lots of others here, I put the Screen ProTech screen protector on the new one before putting it back in. (Leave it to dry overnight before reinstalling.) Looks brand new and should stay that way now. Also added the protector to the stereo and the shifter panel. Easy peasy.

That said, you can install the screen protector without removing the cluster and from what I've seen it basically hides all of the scratches. So if you'd rather not disassemble anything, that's probably the way to go.

I wish Screen protech would just sale the cluster dash protector I don't need the whole kit. At $60 I might as well just buy 2 replacement instrument cluster screens

I purchased the screen protector kit and I’m still not sold on it. I recommend if you get it. Take the plexiglass out then install it
It’s a pain to do while in the truck

How much of a pain is it to remove the plexiglass to start with ? If it isn’t too hard I will get a new plexiglass and then cover it with the film, then install.

Doesn't seem like a hassle at all. Couple trim pieces and screws

honestly it’s not that much pain in the ass at all. You’ll lower your steering wheel you pull off your dash covers the left one in the right one and then you pull the plexiglass off not really that hard at all after all just takes time everything done right takes time.

Best advice is to watch Youtube.

Bumping an old thread. Put it off long enough, so I ordered a new plexiglass cluster and screen protect kit today.

I ordered another one also. And I bought the Somitech protected screen protector, and it came in a two pack so I save the spare and I’m gonna put it on the new screen when it comes in before I install it in the vehicle.

If you are taking about the replacement plexi, there are different part numbers depending on your trim. Some of them have chrome I believe. The first post on page 1 has a part number and the different parts and their appearance are discussed within the first 5 pages
