Remove hooks for Weathertech?

I was wondering .. would it make sense to remove the floor mat hooks prior to installing Weathertech mats? The website even asks you if you have hooks so they can provision your mats with the holes.

I don't want stinkin' holes. The reason I would buy them is to contain dirt and liquids; holes don't contribute to that effort.

Has anyone else done this?

 

i left my hooks intact, dirt doesnt get into the holes

Though, the hooks make pulling them out kinda a pain in the arse. Still, it's not that bad.

 

That's ok. I wouldn't want them to be too easy, snap off, and jam my accelerator pedal

 

I pulled my hooks as dirt and water still got onto the carpet - it doesn't take much when you use your truck often.

I filled the holes with black RTV silicone. You can hardly notice, and the mat doesn't move at all.

 

I left mine in and I don't have any problems with the carpet getting dirty around the holes.
