I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma pre runner, SR5, 2 wheel drive, 6 cylinder. 4.0 with 166,000 miles. I had to remove the cat converter and the 4 censors. My check engine light is still on. what do I need to do to remove this light due to lack of a Cat. Converter? Thanks.

You need an o2 simulator. (I think that's the name.)

But what you did was illegal and you probably shouldn't post about it on an open forum.

What did you replace the manifolds with???headers??? if so use urd's o2 sims. Removing the flow sensors which are on the rear cats will not make the check engine light come on.

On my truck, I took off my rear cats and replaced the y-pipe with URD's y-pipe. I'm only running front cats....no CEL. If I get long tube headers they won't have cats. I will now be in the same position as you and will be complely catless, I will then simply need URD's o2 sims. Go to Urdusa.com

    Hope this helps....Juan

I would wonder how this truck passes inspection, it would fail in Pa. Although I am also wondering if the OP responds again if ever.

What is this inspection you speak of???

Guess I've always been lucky enough to live in a state that doesn't do such things.

If you live in Vancouver they check but the rest of the province of BC has no inspections, most places in Canada have no inspections.

Emissions inspection. I'm in Illinois, once the vehicle hits 5 years old it's done every other year.

Emissions inspection every year in Pa.
Bunito, you're saying no emissions inspection until the vehicle is 5 yrs old? I wish Pa did that!! It's nothing but a scam here in Pa., we have to pay for emission on a brand new vehicle... WHAT A JOKE!!!

Emissions inspection nowadays means the technician just plugs in an OBD2 scanner and makes sure all the emissions-related self tests are complete with no codes. If the technician doesn't do a thorough visual inspection under the hood, a good O2 simulator (like this one) should be able to pass.

Only in the "state" of Chicago and surrounding counties, down state is immune for the time being.

Yeah, I guess the state recognizes the vehicle not needing emission testing because it's too new (within 5 years). It's free here too....no fee thank god and surprising because we pay for all kinds of other shit. As far as down state IL. , I'm unaware of testing being nonexistent because I've never lived downstate. Our test consists just like KenLyns (above) OBD2 scanner and a visual inspection.

Downstate still gets socked with all (most) of the vehicle taxes, but emissions isn't a "thing" yet. And give it time, they just haven't gotten around to charging a fee, as the state goes broke, they'll be looking for more revenue sources. Glad I moved the hell out of there ( Peoria is a great place to be FROM)
