So I test drove another Cav Blue today and was pretty happy with it - no steering wheel vibrations or bad alignment on this one - I also noticed this one had the Toyos instead of the Hankooks.

That said - is there any way to safely get rid of those dealer added pinstripes? I'm told they are NOT vinyl.

I've heard acetone - but doesn't sound safe. I really wish they wouldn't put that nonsense on the trucks but they did.....

    Thanks for any advice.

Just peel it off, using finger nails and clean up with goo gone.

Or are you saying it’s painted on

I'm told it's paint, it looks like paint too, vinyl is pretty easy to recognize.

find a different dealer or make them take into account the depreciation it is causing, pinstripes in 2019 is a sacrilege

I wouldn't think they are painted on. The labor cost would be extreme if done right. Most painted on pinstripes are reserved for custom/classic restorations. However, if they are indeed painted on, I would find another truck without that B.S.

Hot rod, muscle car yup. Mid size modern pick up nope. I watched my dad walk off the lot over pinstripes on a GMC Jimmy in 2000

We had them painted on our Lexus ES and the dealer removed them for us. No idea how. And yes, it was absolutely custom painted stripes.

Pinstripes? Is it 1990? Did they also try and upsell for some chrome rocker panels?

I walked away from a truck with the LED bed lights that the dealer was overcharging for. They wouldn't even drop the cost down to half, so I left. I was getting phone calls before I even got 3 miles down the road, but I said, "It's too late now, you have shown me what kind of operation you are running, I will buy from someone else."

Been wanting to take these off since I got the truck.(1 year) hair dryer and the hot Florida sun, picked it off with my fingernail and then finished with alcohol and a microfiber cloth. It wasn’t too bad. All in all took me about 30 minutes but I still have a little goo here and there but my son woke up from his nap so it’ll get finished tomorrow. Overall wasn’t hard at all and I should have done it sooner.

Sorry it's not high res but you can see the pinstripe if you look close enough - I looked at it where it ended, and it looked like paint, but maybe I'm wrong. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I've heard acetone is used - but I'm not sure that's safe and I really don't want my clear coat affected AT ALL even if it's .00000001 mils.

I ride with a couple of Goldwingers and the trick to removing the painted stripes on those bikes is oven cleaner. If vinyl then the hairdryer trick works well.

Take your fingernail and pick at the very corner and see if it comes off, if it’s vinyl you should at least be able to pick and feel the ridge

tell the dealer you got a quote of $250 to remove it and tell them to take it off the price plus remove the amount they are charging for it

I’d be totally shocked if you couldn’t peel that right off but if it was me and I loved the truck I’d still get it, the strip blends in and doesn’t stick out once I saw the pic.

If it's not paint follow post #14 advice. They will look like this when you are done.
