I was hoping not too. All videos ave seen is to changed the whole grille, not just the trim.

The key is, once you have the grille out, look at the back. The chrome tabs are the only ones that need to be pushed through. Use needle nose pliers and take your time. I think it maybe took 20 minutes and I was being super cautious. There's a million pro grille videos and that will get you started, you just need to focus on the ring once you get to a certain point. I'm really happy I swapped mine out. It's a small part, but gives the front end a totally different look.

If I recall (it’s been a while) the bezel comes out first, then the grill. So a bezel swap should be really quick. Just be cautious of those tabs and some of the screws hold in the bezel

I guess a mirror would help me identify what screws to pull. Im hoping i don't need to remove the whole grille out. I checked videos and and haven't seen a single one removing just the trim.

You open the hood, and it’s 2 bolts and 2 pull pins (maybe 4). Then the whole assembly (grill, bezel, and painted section) comes out and a whole piece. Very easy to do

I’m sure you can find it online. I’m at work but when I get back to station I can point them out to you, if you can’t find them online.

You will ned to remove the whole grille. Its really just two 10mm head bolts and two plastic rivets. Pull the inner portion of the plastic rivet up with a knife or flat screwdriver. Then a good tug. Lay the whole thing on a blanket or bubble wrap.
The reason you need to remove the whole thing is those screws are short and you can not get to them with the assembly still in place. You would spend more time fussing and cussing and still end up removing it.
As said before, just the chrome tabs and a lot of screws and its done.
This will give you an idea of the tabs and screw placement

Just found this video today and just ordered an OEM black bezel off Amazon.

Not the best video but @2:20 and on it can give you a good idea

Thanks. Its a subtle change, but keeps stock location of the safety sensors.

I just tried this, but the chrome bezel had waaaay more clips than the black one I ordered. Maybe more support for the heavy radar unit on Toyota emblem, which isnt available on SR? Anybody know if it's a bad idea to just replace with the fewer clips? Locations match up

The actual bezel/surround doesn't provide any support what so ever, so you should be perfectly fine. The bezel is just there for looks/filler.

Glad it worked for you! I still have yet to do mine. I think I'm going to wait for a hot summer day, so the plastic is a little more forgiving.

    Also, welcome to TW!!!
