What's a safe way to remove the sticky residue left over from a sticker I removed from the inside of my door panel?

I could give you a better answer if I saw the sticker first.

I'd start with a clean rag, dampened with hot water - then scrub.

    Word.

But the adhesive residue scrubs off pretty easily, most of the time you take one section of hot, damp rag and get the majority off with some elbow grease - when it starts rolling into balls you switch to a new section of rag and it'll pull them off with ease.

But that's just how I roll, I play it safe with interior plastics. Back in the day my buddy ruined his door panel with some bug spray (with DEET).. DEET eats plastic pretty good.

All that said, I don't think I've ever had a adhesive issue that hot water wouldn't fix, when it didn't - rubbing alcohol worked well.

Rubbing alcohol works good without being too harsh. Don't use lacquer thinner, that stuff is pretty harsh.

I was going to try some Goof Off but didn't want to risk dis-coloring the door panel. I will give the hot water a try first. Thanks.

Goof Off is safe to use. I used it on my old black truck when I debadge it.

I just checked to see if "Acrysol" was on Amazon and it is! This stuff is the best. I've had the same spray can since the early 90's. Amazing it still has pressure to spray. Have a roll of paper towels on hand. You'll want a clean one each time you wipe the sticky crap off. I use it very sparingly, and be patient working with it. It will seep in behind the sticker so you can get it off. Then the messy part of getting that surface clean is where clean paper towels comes into play. I took off Those square white stickers they put on your rear diff and the one on the chassis in the rear drivers side wheel well. Toyota uses some pretty tough glue on these stickers, but Acrysol will win. Looks much better. I might add that it's not cheap but well worth it.

As I Nurse I found Solvo-Plast Adhesive Remover in removing the the goo off of anywhere on a vehicle without damaging surface the best.It is used to remove glue on the skin for colostomy care.Doesn't burn the skin and great for removing the glue left behind from decals etc even on auto paint.Pick it up at any medical supply.IMO patsy
