Ok - well as I said in the post you quoted, post count does not inherently mean intelligence.

Have you ever spoken to Gadget? Seen the products that his company produces? If not, check them out. I've been reading Gadget's posts for going on 8 years now on various forums, and he has done his own research, as well as worked with others on theirs, and I can assure you he knows his stuff.

I have no reason to give a shit about the secondary air filter, I am just trying to get this thread steered away from derp-talk and actually get some facts out in the open.

Will I be successful? Probably not.

Removed mine 30,000 miles ago. I noticed NO difference whatsoever.

I have personally seen some guys secondary filters are very dirty and in their case I would replace it or get a better initial filter. If I could go back in time mine would of remained on my truck so my engine stayed cleaner, but what the hell do I know anyway

They look dirty because they contain charcoal.

I did a quarter tank of gas with the new filter. Same driving habits as before and I think I am getting less MPG now. The throttle is a little smoother but thats all I noticed. The filter is very good quality. I am going to put the secondary air filter back on and see how it goes.

There's not enough bandwidth for what's happening.
I removed mine 4 full fuel ups ago ... Haven't noticed any benefit either in MPGs or perceived power gain / loss.:notsure:

This is on my 4cyl. I did 145 miles to a qtr tank today keep in mind thats a qtr tank and the fill tube. The only benefit is I wont need to buy another filter. Its really good quality too. What do the stock filters cost? I am going to keep the pro dry for now. I may not have this truck much longer anyways.

I was checking out this secondary filter just today when I changed my spark plugs. I was wondering how the hell you clean it when it gets dirty, since it doesn't come out of there without a lot of prying or worse. I guess you could use a shop vac on it and get it somewhat clean? Mine didn't look too bad but I will inspect it again next time I clean the KN filter.

It's not supposed to get dirty. It's technically a carbon trap. Though if it does enough to affect the truck ...well that's something I wouldn't want to think about if I lived in Cali.

I cleaned my K&N and it had holes in it. The bad part about is that we were offroading in the desert. so when i looked at the secondary filter it was covered in dirt. So at least it caught all the extra that went through. On the other hand i have to take off he throttle body to see how far dirt went in. K&N replaced my filter the next day, less then 24 hours after i called them.

So carbon won't clog it? If its there to catch something, there should be a way to clean it so your not restricting your air flow.

It's got charcoal in it, aka carbon. Carbon absorbs particulates on the molecular level. You don't clean it.
